Daniel Pouzzner Quote

“Those who believe themselves to be masters of all they survey are mistaken. There is no such thing as absolute power and the delusion that one is in possession of such power constitutes absolute corruption. This delusion leads, resolutely, to the downfall of its adherents.”

The second sentence describes Obama perfectly. He thinks that he was elected King.

Cal, Lewisville, TX

Yes Jim, Obama wants to be another LBJ.

Matthew, Peoples Republik of Kalifornia

I just wish they'd fall down faster... Like the eve before taking any power for the first time.

Mike, Norwalk

I'm not quite sure how to rate this. I agree kinda / sorta in the principle of the absolutes, BUT ! ahhh! . A lot of P C defined concepts. Does the generally used concept : "masters of all they survey", mean a god like ability ? (I think not). What is "absolute power" that there is no such thing ?

Alan Bramwell, Chiang Mai, Thailand

This quote is so amenable to individual opinions - Obama obviously hated in Texas, and Donald's haters have not yet woken up!
The world is being divided BECAUSE of politics! The USA is being split by the people who live in it. Instead of a central government composed of many parties, there are too many of ONE and too few of any others. United States now has a DISUNITED election system that does not work! What a pity!

E Archer, NYC

The belief that everything is controllable by man is the fuel of politics. "If only we had more 'power' we could solve the problem of poverty and war." -- all the while ignoring the causes of poverty and war, They then disarm/tax/disempower the people (the very definition of poverty, powerlessness) in order to empower the Centralized Power with which wars will be waged against poverty and war. (!!)

Patrick Henry, Red Hill

The perfection of the pride and fear of Fallen Man is revealed in his nurturing the illusive notion that everything resides under his control.

Let him endeavor to gain a right mastery of his own nature, apart from his presuming to venture to gain the mastery of his fellow's natures or of the natural realm.

Fredrick William Sillik, Anytown

Yes, life guides me. I don't guide life or foolishly have the notion of it's being its master. Life is a good dimension and I try to learn it's invaluable lessons and wonderful strengths.  I try to maintain a positive loving relationship with the life dimension. Socialism is the challenge of social abilities to create the life connection.
