Frederick M. Vinson Quote

“The basis of the First Amendment is the hypothesis that speech can rebut speech, propaganda will answer propaganda, free debate of ideas will result in the wisest governmental policies.”

"Propaganda will answer propaganda"? Yeah, that is what we call 'free speech' today. The purpose of debate is to find consensus -- until then, it is just somebody trying to pressure the other to obey their dictates. Wouldn't it be incredible if the common people could actually get straight answers out of our so-called 'leaders'? Even better, wouldn't it be awesome if our government actually respected the limits imposed upon them by Law? I would be happy with just a simple debate that wasn't 'moderated' by professional opinion-makers. We are rarely, RARELY, told the truth -- everything told to us has an 'end' associated with it. It is not enough that we each live our lives and face the grand mystery of life, no, someone else knows all the answers and is trying to save us from ourselves, whether church or state. All to glorify our beloved leaders instead of being grateful for life itself and the awe-inspiring wonder that accompanies it.

I watched a video of Jay Carney "debating" with Scarborough. Jay is the White House secretary. They must teach spreading bull shit with a straight face at Yale, Carney's alma mater. Check it out on YouTube and see what I mean.

I missed reading about individual sovereign inalienable rights from the courts mouth piece.
