Friedrich August von Hayek Quote

“Unlike the rationalism of the French Revolution, true liberalism has no quarrel with religion, and I can only deplore the militant and essentially illiberal antireligionism which animated so much of nineteenth-century Continental liberalism. ... What distinguishes the liberal from the conservative here is that, however profound his own spiritual beliefs, he will never regard himself as entitled to impose them on others and that for him the spiritual and the temporal are different spheres which ought not to be confused.”

A very broad swath of accuracy woven in a fabric of almost. Religious tolerance with no quarrels hasn't been part of liberalism in general since at least the 18th century. Liberalism of today's sweeping ideologues fain equality when enforcing a national establishment of religion. By way of example, the Supreme Court has legislated that the religious sacrament of marriage is a government given right and that all other religions must preform marriages by license to whom ever the the statist theocracy declares a must. If other religions outside the socialistic statist theocracy have differing temporal and spiritual beliefs than subject legislated canons, force and penalty are applied to ensure compliance with the liberal's national establishment of religion. The quote would reference true liberalism as a philosophical movement emphasizing intellectual, temporal and spiritual liberty, individual freedom (especially from restraint) and a laissezfaire relationship with any body politic. There being evidence thereof once upon a time but, not in the last few centuries.

It just goes to show how far the definition of 'liberal' has been twisted to mean its opposite. As for religion, the free-thinking atheist gravitates to liberalism in the classic sense allowing the free exercise of one's religion (limited only by the rights of others). The corruption occurs when the 'liberal' acts to prevent others from expressing their religious views because he is 'offended.' This is very illiberal -- it is in fact fascist. So inevitably, the liberal who does not defend the liberties of others, and in fact, establishes rules and courts to enforce rules that prohibit certain behavior. When a liberal calls for the power of police and courts to enforce a statute of prohibition, he is no longer a liberal but a fascist. Of course, the religious fascist gives the liberal fascist plenty of cause to wage war against each other. Neither can imagine a world in which both sides can coexist, yet here we are. Is perpetual war the destiny of humankind? Government isn't an answer to this, as it provides the power and opportunity -- it is the cause of constant conflict which is ultimately the justification for more war. It is a racket all right, and the 'liberals' are but pawns in the game...

Here today we find our government standing upside down on its foundation. Elements arranged as to be top heavy. This according to natural law. Atomic weight. If we know the action of a certain substance, then our knowledge never changes. But side by side with the unchangeable truth there is the constant discovery of new truths. The law is complex but perfect. Elements are arranged according to number and law. Here there can be no room for human fancy. Chemistry is an amazing field. Natural Divine order. The plumb line of Divine government. Gold, iron, silver, copper, carbon, mercury etc. every important element is a multiple of either 4 or 7. There is much truth available but goes against the grain of, what some people want you to know, and what to believe. Liberal, conservative, independent. Liberty and freedom are elements that align themselves according to this natural law. Such as gold and silver. Diamagnetic or Paramagnetic. Monads, Diads, Triads , and Tetrads.

I cannot help, but want to expound upon this line of thought. Newton was on to it. ( The Stone ), absolute Truth. It permeates every fiber. No fancy. To seek the unknown, logically, reasonably, with each step. There is an element, first born among many, 1st begotten, this element among many brethren, sought, but not found, known of, yet not beheld. This, the new creature of Liberty, a child at favor with God. Understanding.
