Jacob G. Hornberger Quote

“The biggest threat to the American people today lies with the United States government. ... [T]he long-term solution is to dismantle, not reform, the iron fist of the welfare state and the controlled economy. This includes the end (not the reform) of the IRS, the DEA, the BATF, the SEC, the FDA, HUD, the departments of HHS, Labor, Agriculture, and energy, and every other agency that takes money from some and gives it to others or interferes with peaceful behavior.”

WOW ! ! ! We hold this truth to be self evident. That I could rate this innumerable times. The best way to limit a government is to define a unique list with only a few things that the sovereign's representatives can do. The alphabet soup of the quote, along with a goodly portion of the DC phone book are not part of that list. The statist theocracy that infests this land is NOT of, by, for, or based on 'We The People' and is NOT a constitutional United States government. The biggest threat to freedom, liberty, The Laws of Nature and of Nature's God, unalienable rights of the individual sovereign, justice, i.e., the American People (that being the current statist theocracy that infests this land) needs be dismantled so that a representative republic's constitutional government can be re-instituted.

WOW!!! as Mike put it. We have lost track and control of our gov't and it has put us into bondage and we don't even notice it all that much. We are upset by its failures and we keep electing another batch of vampires thinking they have new blood when all they have is the same old thirst.

harold lasky, sacramento,ca.

too bad more Americans don't think and speak out this way. GOD BLESS THE U.S.A.

J Carlton, Calgary

Hornberger, like myself, is obviously an adherent of Frederic Bastiat. A moral man.

jim k, Austin,Tx

If he ever runs for president he gets my vote. This quote nails it.

jim k, Austin,Tx

Todays quotes are some of the best I have ever seen. Thank you.

Seems to be a lot of confusion in this country about which wing Fascism is associated with -- and it is not the left. It seems some would completely substitute a real theocracy for the so-called statist one. No thanks. Keep your god in your own backyard and out of mine. Now that is a truth that is self-evident.

Waffler, Smith

WELCOME POPEYE! We certainly need more realists on this site. Hornberger and all the throwers of red meat to a waiting and ravenuously hungry throng of non-thinking, knee jerking people is the greatest danger to America. The ravenuous throng and those who wish for a real theocracy should pause for at least a nano second and consider why the so called alphabet soup exists. It exists out of real fears of the American people that (1) a fear that people will not pay their correct tax (after all the IRS is only an audit agency and hell every thing needs to be audit or held accountable) 2) a fear that the children will fall prey to drugs 3) fear that people will smuggle tobacco and booze 4) fear that the Madoff's of the world will rob us blind 5) fear that drug makers will kill us as the German Thalidimide folk killed all over the world. That is enough to simply state that Hornberger and his ilk should just keep their heads in the sand until they suffocate themselves. Then the greatest fear to America will be eliminated.

Popeye, there is some confusion, what wing of Fascism is it that nationalized so much of the transportation and medical industries? I'm all about keeping my God out of secular government, please keep your god out of that which was supposed to be secular (non-statist). I don't want the despotism, tyranny, slavery and totalitarian dictatorship of your god; now that is the truth and self evident. Waffler, instead of your off topic emotional rhetoric, please produce the enabling act that authorizes the activities of the IRS. As to the rest of the alphabet soup, please cite that specific reference in the Constitution that authorizes such existence or scope of activities. Good to hear from the liberal progressives today, long on ridicule, short on, on topic facts.

Jamie, Nelson

That it is probably true? A lot of people have their whole livelihood from cradle to grave mapped along what bureaucracy offers. The more lawyers the harder to unravel. Which makes it, in the guise of democracy; fascism.

GunnyCee, Durham

More realists? Waffler, you are the farthest from a realist as any I've seen yet. Popeye and you are both ideologists (not idealists). You believe in a religion called progressivism established by Marx and Lenin. Woodrow Wilson tried his very best to fundamentally transform America in his day the same way that Obama is trying to do today. There is nothing new about progressivism, it's simply state control of our lives. It's been tried many times and in many places and it always fails. Fine examples are South America and Europe. What is it that you two don't understand about Fascism? Nothing that the right believes in has anything to do with Fascism and everything to do with returning to the Constitution. State control (meaniang Federal control) of health care was a mainstay of Nazism, state control of banks was another mainstay of Nazism, state control of the manufacture of large goods (The Volkswagon) was yet another mainstay of Nazism. What is it you pinheads don't understand about Nazism? You think that because a few KKK and one screwball like the guy who blew up the FBI building in Oklahoma makes all conservatives militant activists? Funny thing about that, the only people who are guilty of militant activism en masse are liberals who believe that anarchy is the solution to all the mess we're in today.l

Waffler, says the reason these agencies exist is because of "fear" -- fear that the people will not pay their taxes, fear that the people will take drugs for which the govt make no profit, fear that the people will trade commodities (like tobacco and alcohol -- and fuel, corn, hemp, gold) freely between themselves (the commerce clause was supposed to protect free trade), fear that the people might cut in on their action, fear that the people might actually figure out what the government has done to them over the last 75 years. Interesting, though, that these agencies are agents of fear, intimidating the people, forcing compliance with unlawful statutes and arbitrary power. Jefferson said,"When the government fears the people there is liberty; when the people fear the government there is tyranny." These bureaucracies are agents of tyranny, no doubt about it, and corrupt to the bone, protecting the monopolies and 'turf' of the politicians and their creditors. Wake up. These agencies are there to promote fear, not reduce it.

Johann Hollar, St Paul

Government is evil as long as there is capitalism

dick, Fort Worth

I think many writers would have been quite happy in 1930s Germany.

Mike, Norwalk

dick, I think you're right. Based simply on the comments here; Johann, A from Reston, Waffler and Popeye all defend and support doctrines identical to the 'National Socialism' of that time and space (all such being diametrically opposed to the U.S. Constitution, The Laws of Nature and of Nature's God, unalienable rights of the individual sovereign, justice, charity, freedom, and liberty).

Waffller, Smith

I went to a Tea Party event Tuesday night. The leader did not say that she was against anything that Obama or so called "progressives" are doing but she made the same old arguement the wacko right always make, she said basically "those are good ideas but we are just not ready for them". Guess what they and you guys will never be ready. You guys and your ilk were not ready for the female vote, for female governors (first one was in Wyoming, the progressive west I guess) were never ready for Civil Rights etc. Need I go on. Fascism is government by the "leader" that is waht fascism is.

Waffler, Smith

Mike do your own research. You won't believe anyone else and certainly not me.

Mike, Norwalk

Waffler, real incoherent leftist rant. WHAT? First of all, there is no singular or congruent Tea Party, that's a leftest red herring. I've only been to a couple of Tea Party activities but they were so different in their direction, style, and content that it just went to show that people are being abused by government; nothing more or less and, don't know where to go to get relief. You going to a right wing progressive's (?) Tea Party of frustrated confusion only goes to prove that there is no one Tea Party. I've never heard of a Tea Party gathering that claimed totalitarian abuse, socialism, unconstitutional despotism and tyranny are good, and that the people just aren't ready to be good yet (hey, I guess it could happen if you say so). Since the original couple of contemporary Tea Party demonstrations, GOP neocons have tried to hijack the energy movement, is that kinda sorta what you are trying to allude to? ? ? Are you saying right wing neocon going Tea Partyers are really leftists at heart but aren't ready to be that good yet? ? ? Utah was the first state to give women the vote, and we know how progressive their reputation is. Waffler again, your liberal gibberish in attempting to re-define words is so typical of the lie that is progressivism. Some fascist regimes have charismatic leaders at the head but so what, that doesn't begin to describe what fascism is. Waffler, go back and check some of my own original research, I've defined fascism for you at least 3 times (using court cases, legal and regular dictionaries and historical uses).

Waffler, Smith

Being against progress and change is a disease. The "establishment" was against Jesus, Martin Luther, abolition, electricity, internet, flouride in water, global warming etcetera need I go on. Folk against progress are a diseased bunch. I asked the local leader of the Teas where were they six months before Obama was elected. She said that is a good question. The fact is Mike they are just a reaction to the Obama election. As an acquaintance said they are simply the resurrected KKK.

Mike, Norwalk

Waffler WHAT? ? ? Are you now insinuating that people going to Tea Party titled activities are against electricity and the internet and are for accumulative poisons in the water and lies instead of real science? Waffler, you're an idiot. The related activities are not against Obama's election, its about the rapid destruction of this nation with Mr. Obamunist Goodwrench the assassin leading the charge, with a rabid rabble of alphabet soup doing his bidding. AND what an absolute asinine conclusion your acquaintance made, those people regularly attending activities under the title Tea Party are probably not Democrats with sheets.

jim k, Austin,Tx

Mike, please do not insult idiots by calling waffler an idiot. To call him an idiot would be a compliment.

Abigail, Newport

A RATIONAL THOUGHT! AT LAST!!!!!

Ken, Allyn, WA

Mike, please don't taunt the psychotics. Who knows what they'll do next. They might nationalize....well, let's see...what's left? Mussolini, the prototypical Fascist, was a Communist before he became convinced international socialism would never work. He then "Progressed" in his thinking that only national socialism could work. National Socialism....now, where have I heard that term before? I'm almost expecting Waffler, dick, anonymous from R, et. al. to start goose stepping at any moment.

Mike, Norwalk

jim, you're probably right, I have to apologize to the idiots out there. Ken, I like it, you're absolutely right. Waffler here, out right describes his mental 'health' and desires; the Constitution spelled out a limited representative republic of law, order, individual inalienable rights, justice, freedom and liberty and now, it is only a diseased bunch that won't 'progress' into a totalitarian dictatorship, tyranny, despotism, control, poverty, pain, and suffering, i.e. a perfectly unconstitutional socialist utopia.

E Archer, NYC

Typical Waffler-speak: no rational argument, insinuations, innuendoes, race-baiting, twisting words, outright lying about what others said (the KKK remark was from Rev. Walter Fauntroy shortly after Beck's speech in DC -- Waffler is an acquaintance? BS -- just fuelling racism). The folks attending Tea Parties are from all walks of life -- black and white, republican and democrat, Christian and non, pretty much Main Street Americana. People are waking up and do not trust the mainstream party candidates. Waffler's words are communistic, totalitarian, and frankly treasonous towards the lawful republican government established by We the People. 'Progress' and 'change' mean NOTHING without defining from where you are. For some, reducing the USA to a bankrupt nation is 'progress' towards a fascist new world order -- for others, this isn't progress but corruption. 'Change'? Please!! All they are doing is solidifying the establishment's hold upon Washington, the States and the People. What has changed? What has been the progress? More debt, less liberty, and the poor are even poorer while Clinton, Gore, and Kerry are enjoying the millions of dollars they have raked in over the last year selling away our rights to the globalist cabal. Waffler is a damned fool, and a true enemy of all that America ever was or was supposed to be.

Mike, Norwalk

wow Archer, thank you, said exceedingly well.

J Carlton, Calgary

Right on Archer. 10 stars.

jim k, Austin, Tx

I give it 10 stars, at least.

    The Socialists - anti-U.S. Constitution CRICKETS -
by the names of Waffler, Popeye and Reston are again tossing out their strawman statements.
Doesn't it seem strange to True Patriots how these socialist Neanderthals subscribe to e-mails from Liberty Tree when they are absolutely opposed to the unalienable rights of the Individual?
They are pot stirrers and hate mongers who most likely can't control their own little, diminutive world and therefore trash anything that reflects the right and freedom to personal initiative and responsibility.
Liberty is wholly out of their realm!

And the Awakening of the Individual Sovereigns continues to grow in leaps and bounds ! the old establishment of FDR and beyond shakes in their boots for FEAR OF REPRISAL short of all out war.
Lex-talionis. The Foreign and Domsetic Despots that infest this land should fear Reprisal of not only their goods but their illegal citizenry inhabiting this Free Republic under siege !! Great Quotes in due season. Thank you Editor and thank you, to all the True Patriots great and small. Just an old carpenter, but I get the jest. !

I can smell and taste the Blood as it rises in my lungs from the infectious heart disease of old, likened unto the disease of infectious socialism of foreign and domestic despotism. Experience is our Guide to understanding the life and death of the individual and of our Free Republic under siege !

    Fredrick William Sillik, Anytown

We the People of the United States of America are the Government of the United States of America. As we continue to realize and understand this condition the more we realize and continue to observe that a more complete civilized development of that citizenry of the United States of America is in our vision for our future. Socialism is the challenge of social abilities to create a civilized nation.
