This is when the government was in charge that is no longer the case. Politicians are now but pawns of their corporate and military masters - just replace the word "government" with "our corporate and military masters" and it would be spot on.

RBESRQ, it is spot on as it is. Our corporate and military masters are only part of the statist theocracy that infests this land.

It is the ever expanding Progressive government that has infringed our liberty and freedom. As Ronald Reagan said, "Government is not a solution to our problem, government is the problem."

E Archer, NYC

Throughout Europe and now the US follows suit, government spending is now over 50% of GDP -- and government does not produce anything, AND they borrow almost all of that money. This is what statism produces -- an unaccountable behemoth that takes over the world with bureacracy and regulations.

Mike, of course they are only part but they are the part in charge.

Robert, I'll give you a partial yeah on that one (it is still government that holds the hammer, has its finger on the trigger and violates the once free). AND, we can't really put a face or name to the actual puppeteers, their relationships, etc.

A deeper look from another perspective would give this a thumbs down. Starting with there being no word in any language, that I am aware of, that describes a body politic which represents an individual sovereign's inalienable rights in a republican form of administration. The meaning and mental image government manifests is a foreign and separate power that controls We The People. If government has to show restraint for liberty to thrive, that means no rights are recognized as inalienable. No inalienable rights, no natural law, no true liberty, no freedom ! ! ! all are integral in one

E Archer, your comment is very true.

The truth of the matter. Once socialism was instituted in 37 by FDR, the ever growing club of democratic socialist in our nation has prospered to the point of collapse. The centralized government turned tyrannical.
" I morn for the stake which was lost at Richmond more deeply than I rejoice over that which was saved at Waterloo."
Lord Acton. His sympathies lay entirely with the Confederacy for their defense of States rights against centralized government. And the overthrow of the individual sovereign and his inalienable rights given by the Creator.
