Louis-René de Caradeuc de La Chalotais Quote

“I claim for the nation an education that depends only on the State, because children of the State must be raised by members of the State.”

~ Louis-René de Caradeuc de La Chalotais

Essai d'éducation nationale et plan d'étude pour la jeunesse [1763] (Paris: Raynal, 1825), p. 15.

"children of the State" ... this is so sad. I don't see how ANYBODY could agree with this.

Marvelous... it recognises that society has a direct and real responsibility for the youth of that society. To produce outward looking, innovative adults we must see an investment which engenders this... and that is one in education. Teach your children at home and all you get is little clones of the parents... teach them at public schools and when done right you get worldly knowledgable, society aware, independant thinkers and doers!

Reston, what world do you live in? The clones are from the public school system -- and hardly engender all the high ideals you mention -- the least of which are 'independent thinkers.' Government schools do not promote worldly and aware adults -- far from it. From my experience, home-schooled children (often travelling and living abroad with their parents) are much more well-rounded, 'worldly, knowledgeable, aware' than their government-schooled counterparts.

hmmm, depending only on the state, wow; i.e. Those grand interpreters of the inorganic ethereal phantasm's (government) instructional truths. Of course, the noble individual, incapable of real truth instruction, can't hear the same voices (not quite so psychotic). He/she's at home, away from worldly (immoral) State members educating their young in the ways of innovation, how to think, and knowledge. Long live the Borg (NOT)

David L. Rosenthal

Reston needs to look at the examples of what states have produced in order to be convinced of the folly of the idea of state intervention in childrearing.

People need to be RESPONSIBLE for themselves. Teaching only through the state gets clones of the state, which is what happened in Germany ... Hitler Youth. You certainly don't get independent thinkers.

The antithesis of the American way.

Scary. Sounds just like our wonderful public school system. Unfortunately, this is exactly the system the liberal elites would have so they can control what our children think, and make them mindless wards of the state.

Reston is truly nuts.

To bring shame upon the Republic. Fabian socialist, lifting the head of the Qadesh. All the while smiling as the family unit of Core Americans is trampled under foot , stealing away the children for their prey. Their heart is forward to do mischief. Upright they are not. He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the Lord: but he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him. Fools make a mock of sin: but among the righteous there is favour. A fools mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul. Before destruction the heart of man is haughty.

How come the Germans did not stop Hitler? They didn't really know that they were fascists -- just like Americans do not know now. When Americans learn of what their government has done to them and around the world, it will likely be too late.

Interestingly enough, Chalotais in opposition to the Roman Catholic church, their Jesuit school of indoctrination, had proposed a scientific method of study for the purpose of education as apposed to indoctrination of socialism. This just prior to the French revolution. Now it is easy to see the state of affairs in public indoctrination of socialism, taking place all across America. The convulsions of disdain for the welfare state bias and its harsh taskmasters fuel the turmoil felt today. MAGA to KAG
