Cooley is a very good man. He is about much more than the enslaving of the communist manifesto's second plank. This reminds me of: THESE are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as FREEDOM should not be highly rated. Britain, with an army to enforce her tyranny, has declared that she has a right (not only to TAX) but "to BIND us in ALL CASES WHATSOEVER" and if being bound in that manner, is not slavery, then is there not such a thing as slavery upon earth. He is correct, the greatest possession anyone can have or leave to their children is individual liberty.

I knew this man personally and sacrificed along with him for all he stood for. He was a wonderful man, loving, patient and kind, and a very spiritual soul. He sacrificed everything...his home, his property, money, and family inheritance, All was eventually taken away.....all for what he believed in......all so his children, grandchildren and everyone else in this country would have a chance at living a life of Liberty and Freedom. He was my father.

There are so many Marvin Cooley's listed in the papers, I can't guess which one this is. It would be good to know a little more about him: Birth, occupation, etc to show which he is in the list of people with the same name.
