P. J. O'Rourke Quote

“Government isn't a good way to solve problems ... [G]overnment is concerned mostly with self-perpetuation and is subject to fantastic ideas about its own capabilities. ... [G]overnment is wasteful of the nation's resources, immune to common sense and subject to pressure from every half-organized bouquet of assholes. ... [G]overnment is distrustful of and disrespectful toward average Americans while being easily gulled by Americans with money, influence or fame.”

As usual, PJ got it exactly right.

Excellent observation. Entirely accurate.

Essentially P.J. is correct, however I would add BLOATED government does not solve problems well and that is what we have in spades with this administration. It has expanded exponentially on all levels. All P.J.'s other observations are spot on, except his reference to the "bouquet." The problem has been the "bouquet" has been very well organized and honing their organization for about 100 years, taking it one step at the time; the Progress so insidious no one really noticed the lethal threat. It's the frog in the pot of water coming to a slow boil. Sure, we may have been uncomfortable at times, but not enough to rebel. That changed with the election of the most dedicated, but inept president in history. It became so blatantly obvious that our country was hurtling down the track to a colossal train wreck that we actually woke up. So we can thank Mr.Obama for that. However, there is a lot of work to do and I hope the Fresh Blood entering Congress will do the work of the People with diligence, humility and common sense.

Yeah, government is bad. Let's see, maybe we could put the KKK in charge ...or better yet, the National Chamber of Commerce.... oh, I have it: Goldman Sachs!!

dick, instead of trying such scare tactics as increasing Democrat Party affiliates (KKK, etc.), what do you think about implementing a body politic of individual sovereign representatives  serving to secure and promote inalienable rights, liberty, perfected allodium and laissez faire commerce at/by the laws of nature and of nature's God and justice?  Now there's a novel concept.

Dick, as abhorrent a thought as that is, all of those entities are more qualified than the Kenyan Imposter roosting in the White House. For that matter, my Labrador Retriever is better qualified...

Stating the obvious is PJ'S job and making fun of the government is his responsibility. Waking up is one thing uprooting socialism is another. Riding the horse of socialism shouting democracy and labor concerns for the little people won't get the job done. We voted people out of office not the banks or the current power base which control the economics of the world at large. And have this nation in a strangle hold. Why ? They want it all ! Dick your prejudice is showing. It is not the color that matters but the mans political philosophy.

Ron, I'll give your sentiments more thought if you will agree to throw away your social security checks (if you're of age) and cancel your Medicare.

dick, I'm of age and I don't participate in ill gotten booty or other illicit government activity.

Being a baby boomer, my parents came from wood stoves and oil lanterns. Then gas lights, radios, and TVs. They, my parents were never for social security or the federal insurance contributions act. Though I have paid into many so called social security withholdings, state and federal. I have never drawn nor do I ever intend to. My independance and liberty mean to much to me seeing I value my freedom above servitude.

My Russian Blue cat would do a better job than Obama. He would ,at least, have the good graces to leave us alone.
