Dr. Ron PaulDr. Ron Paul, (1935-) American physician, US Congressman (R-TX), US Presidential candidate

Dr. Ron Paul Quote

“It's a mistake to think that poor people get the benefit from the welfare system. It's a total fraud. Most welfare go to the rich of this country: the military-industrial complex, the bankers, the foreign dictators, it's totally out of control. [...] This idea that the government has services or goods that they can pass on is a complete farce. Governments have nothing. They can't create anything, they never have. All they can do is steal from one group and give it to another at the destruction of the principles of freedom, and we ought to challenge that concept.”

I had no problem voting for Ron Paul in the Republican Primary. Comparing him to McCain made voting for Paul so easy.

He is correct that most welfare is in the form of corporate welfare, but that is not a reason to turn our backs on the poor and disadvantaged of our society!

Anonymous, you are absolutely right. One of the problems with this country though is it has merged religion with secular government. The care and welfare of the poor is a moral issue for individuals and religion(s) to address, it is not a secular government issue. Once you mix the tenets of applied moral principle (sort of a love thy neighbor as thy self - see Luke 10:27 and Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. Matt 25:40 ) with the secular application of The Laws of Nature and of Nature's God concerning life, liberty, and property (life being the lawful status thereof, i.e. slave, murder, etc. not the quality thereof) then you have replaced the Representative Republic with a theocracy. Being a theology has repercussions far beyond the welfare of the poor. A theocracy claims to have inherent right in and of itself (a divine right much the same as a monarchy) with ability to create law. Where codes, ordinances, statutes, etc. define discovered law for the benefit of the individual, 'cannons' (by any other name - the theocracy using secular terms) replace such secular definitions with the moral imperative (law) of the master theocracy. Theocracies claim the ability to create law; their defined morals, wants, and supremacy, are that law. Mixing religion with secular government displays a government of men, not law.

Brilliant words Ron Paul.

Mike, excellent explanation of why government should stay out of caring for the people and allow the people to care for the people. I've always known that the common people/private sector worked together better to help each other than when the government was trying to run the help (we saw it with Katrina vs. the Tennessee flooding). While I've always know this to be true, I'm not sure I thought it through to the reasoning of why...and you did that so very well.

Why do we not have more brave senators and congressmen like Mr Ron Paul. ? Constructive fraud against the common man must stop. Times of great sacrifice are upon us as was at our birth of this nation. But is it that nobody wants to get their head choped off? or are there so many in bed together committing this fraud against the common man that it will take a fight at their door step to break them of this fraudulent behavior. Where are our mighty men of war, leaders to oust this ungodly behavior committed by 550 or so plus there special friends. It is time to clean house, by the way, you will not vote them out. Perfect love casteth out all fear, which is needed by our mighty men. Fed, state and local houses must be cleaned out. Government and the wealthy started this mess but the mighty righteous men and the common man will clean up the mess the lazy fraudulent men and women that perpetuate this usery which is slavery have keeped us in. And I do pray so to the Lord God Almighty creator of the heavens and the earth.
