In the scope that it was given, I agree. I also believe in most cases, forgetting is a large part of forgiving. History and science here answers the non-forgetting portion of the quote. By example; forgiving socialists for their atrocities enhances the individual's humanity - BUT NEVER, forget the horrors of applied socialism.

Right, Mike.  Just as I can forgive a wild animal for trying to bite me (without feeling the need to kill it to prevent future attempts), I will remain ever vigilant, knowing it is simply acting according to its natural instincts.  Same thing for social democrats and communists...
