Just because someone wears a cross or speaks at a pulpit does not make them a Christian and no one who has murdered, looted or oppressed has acted in the name of Christ for Christ taught none of that.. 1 Reply BondiHarry, Orlando, FL 9/4/07 re: Daniel Webster quote Far too often the gospel of Jesus Christ is blamed for the evil that 'christians' do. But any careful reading of the Bible should demonstrate that such evil is not authored by our God of love, charity and peace but by evil men who defend their actions as being His will when they are no such thing. 1 Reply BondiHarry, Orlando, FL 7/28/07 re: John Adams quote Democacy is little more than mob rule and I believe Winston Churchill nailed it with his comment "The best argument against democracy is a five minute talk with the average voter." Our experiment with being a Constitutional Republic is rapidly coming to an end and our 'democracy' is indeed committing suicide. 1 Reply BondiHarry, Orlando, FL 7/28/07 re: John Adams quote I would add for the benefit of Denby, Victoria that the word car has been in use for over 800 years and has referred to various types of conveyances from chariots to the basket of an air balloon. Adams wasn't referring to automobiles. Reply BondiHarry, Orlando, FL 7/27/07 re: John Adams quote One has only to read the comments by so many of our founding father's to know this claim that they were deists and not Christians is a fraud. Many distrusted what man had done to the gospel of Jesus Christ but most embraced the Bible as the word of God and the foundation of a moral life. Adams however should have differentiated the doctrine of Christ and the silly doctrines added by man in his quote. SaveOk2 Share on Facebook Tweet Email Print
