Administrations are necessary, but should be held accountable and subject to performance review. 1 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 3/31/10 re: Felix Morley quote A system of Justice should pretty much take care of that. Maybe we'll have one someday. 3 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 3/30/10 re: Emma Goldman quote You guys are right. Waffler is so completely programmed the concept of individualism has him utterly baffled. Poor guy can't even begin to get his head around the idea. 1 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 3/30/10 re: Walter E. Williams quote Waffler, that's an interesting hypothesis you have there, that a corporation could corner the market. That is something that has never been accomplished without government cooperation. A practice that flourishes today with the system that we have. So I have to ask, when and where in history and under a completely free enterprise system, free of government involvement, has a corporation ever cornered a market? It's never happened because it can't. It's never happened because we've never had a free enterprise system free of government. 11Reply J Carlton, Calgary 3/30/10 re: John Steinbeck quote To limit the individual is to stifle innovation. 12Reply J Carlton, Calgary 3/30/10 re: John Wayne quote We need The Duke to come back. 1 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 3/29/10 re: Walter E. Williams quote Kalamazoo..The part you missed was the word "voluntary". When accountable municipal organizations get together to create a better environment on a voluntary basis that's one thing...when an unaccountable government forces us into compliance you have authoritarianism...or communism if you prefer. 5 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 3/29/10 re: Emma Goldman quote Waffler perhaps you see yourself as an ant in a colony, I do not. Nor will I comply to the "borg" like mentality of ~ you will assimilate. Over my dead body... 1 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 3/29/10 re: Walter E. Williams quote Waffler, you don't seem to understand that an environment of free enterprise is conducive to contributing to the economy, as opposed to the system of theft you openly advocate. When I get up in the morning to produce something I keep other people employed directly and indirectly. So, I don't contradict myself at all. Socialism is based on selfishness by those too lazy to contribute, who feel the rest of us owe them something. We Don't. 5 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 3/29/10 re: Emma Goldman quote With Liberty and Justice for all? 1 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 3/29/10 re: Archibald MacLeish quote The General Welfare clause taken to a level of insanity never before seen here. Just wait until they are coming into your home to make sure you are compliant...for you own good! 1 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 3/29/10 re: Walter E. Williams quote History tells shows us quite plainly that Socialism / Communism do not work. Freedom, Liberty and a desire to achieve excellence are what made America great. But with the onslaught of me me me gimme gimme pathetic do nothings voting for freebies...America is on its way out as a great nation. It will soon be joining the rest of the third world. 2 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 3/26/10 re: P. J. O'Rourke quote Folks, the story on Canadian Health care is not "all bad". But there are enough horror stories swept under the carpet that I am still a firm believer in personal choice. I believe that genuine "free" enterprise with no government involvement would lead to excellent service at competetive rates as opposed to the expense involved with corporate cronyism and unionized bureaucratic wait in line service. 1 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 3/26/10 re: John Locke quote Government simply can not legislate morality or intelligence. And it has no business whatever delving into the private affairs (robbery) of citizens who take responsibility for themselves, to support those who do not. Those who do not should be left to the laws of nature. 1 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 3/26/10 re: P. J. O'Rourke quote I just re-read my post. Some bad spelling there. It's just too early! :) 1 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 3/26/10 re: P. J. O'Rourke quote As some of you have realized I live in in Canada. You're going to love the bureaucratic bungling, the scandals, the waiting lists, the overcrowded ER's and hallways, the lack of Doctor's and Nurses, the medical degrees from banana republics, the horror stories from the families of people who died of curable ailments while on a waiting list's. Canadians who can afford it have always gone to the US for immediate and first calss medical care. Others have been going to India and Pakistan for things like kidney replacement. Unless the get socialist maggots get a grip, and soon, you're all going to be witness to a system that will slowly kill America...and it's you who are responsible. Reply J Carlton, Calgary 3/26/10 re: James L. Nolan quote From the left...Gun owners are blood thirsty nut jobs and personal responsibility equates to uncaring selfishness. From the right...Liberals are parasitic sycophant dependent children. Whatever happened to the middle? Oh Yeah! Politicians happened to the middle... 6 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 3/25/10 re: Adolf Hitler quote Propoganda, plain and simple. And it goes on today slicker than ever... Reply J Carlton, Calgary 3/25/10 re: Heinrich Hoffmann quote Teddy B. Hitler and history should not be forgotten, and certainly not ignored. The founding father's wrote the Constitution as well as they did because of a knowledge of history. That Constitution is now being ignored and we have come full circle back to the lessons we should never forget that were taught to us by the likes of Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini and Mao. I say this, because history is repeating itself before our very eyes. And we stare like Deer into the headlights... 5 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 3/24/10 re: Ayn Rand quote Archer you make an excellent point. Rights that do not pertain to each individual are not rights at all. "Group Rights" is an oxymoron....believed in only by "Morons". Reply J Carlton, Calgary 3/24/10 re: C. P. Snow quote Judith, not to argue but you've covered a lot of ground there. The government was already far too involved with health care by way of cronyism with insurance companies. A better justice system and less (no) government involvement would, I believe, serve us better than socialist take over of our life choices. And Israel should be cut off from all American taxpayer funding. They're all grown up now, they can sink or swim. 4 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 3/24/10 re: Thomas Jefferson quote Jefferson was an advanced and schooled thinker and philosopher who knew well the ways of authoritarianism. And as one of the most notable founding fathers we would have done well to adhere to his wishes for us. Sadly though, it was Hamilton's practices of greed, control and cronyism that won in the long run and it is Hamilton's America in which we live today. 7 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 3/24/10 re: Ayn Rand quote Clear, concise and accurate to a tee. Reply J Carlton, Calgary 3/24/10 re: C. P. Snow quote Deciding the fate of other's lives was signed into law yesterday and it was a sad day for America, Reply J Carlton, Calgary 3/23/10 re: Immanuel Kant quote The wisdom of the ages. Sadly it is lost on our leaders. They do not see us as soverign individuals but as inventory. Sheep to be fleeced and disposed of as they see fit.
