Education enables a man to get along without the use of his intelligence.” ~ Albert Edward Wiggin Education , Intelligence , Knowledge , Learning , Reason , Self-Reliance Ratings and Comments Reply J Carlton, Calgary 5/27/08 Absolutely right. Its the "Hillary's" of the world that want us all to think this is necessary because people are so dumb and we need all of these socialist programs. Well if I'm not the dumb one...and your not the dumb one...maybe most everyone else is actually in "our" category. And the Hillary's are full of @*#! and its better to keep us ignorant of that fact. Its all about CONTROL. Reply jim k, austin 5/27/08 Mark twain said that he never let schooling get in the way of his education. Reply Me Again 5/27/08 I agree with this quote. I laughed when I read it. I know people like that. Have a god day. Reply RobertSRQ 5/27/08 Reply Waffler, Smith, Arkansas 5/27/08 Cute! What is missing is mention of the amazing thing that happens when intelligence and education reside in the same indidividual. In order to make that cream come to the top we have to do a lot of formal education. Dont' be upset because most of the cream does not come to the top, and yes too much settles to the bottom due to lack of motivation. Reply warren, olathe 5/27/08 Cute and accurate. Reply Anonymous, Reston, VA US 5/27/08 Education (not indoctrination into some belief system, but rather teaching of the skills of thought & investigation & analysis) compliments intelligence. With no intelligence education can not produce more than the slug it is given. Reply E Archer, NYC 5/27/08 Excellent. We all must learn to take care of ourselves. We learn from the people around us, mostly our family, friends, and people we respect as mentors. Knowledge does not need to be forced upon us, learning is natural. Only bullsh_t needs to be 'taught' because when found in nature we naturally avoid it. If school was really about learning how to be a free, independent, productive member of society, we would have learned the skills our grandparents had -- by the time my grandparents were 17, they were already married with children on a farm raising their own food and selling in the marketplace. Today's education is mostly in the form of conditioning to become domesticated animals -- those that excel are held back, those that fail are pushed forward. Socialism is a con that merely reduces us to automatons, and if you follow the money, it is all so that we can continue to prop up the illusion that a promise is the same as the thing it is promising to be. Anyone without an education can tell the difference between a promise to pay and actual payment -- it takes 12 years of BS to pull that one off. Hypocrisy, that is the primary ideal pounded into children in school. Most students know something is wrong, they just aren't being told what it is -- they have to figure that one out for themselves.
