David, I wouldn't trust you either. hehehe

Joe, Rochester, MI

In context...kind of scarry!

David, so anyone willing to take decisive action is a nut? Mike, I agree, it's time to use weed killer in our gardens. "The tree of liberty could not grow were it not watered with the blood of tyrants." LOL

Is murdering Falun Gong members Chinese population control? Given the right to own weapons, the Chinese government may have left them alone. Or simply murdered all who defended themselves, with claims of putting down a rebellion.

David, the death of your brother-in-law is sad. Had he carried a handgun the outcome may have been different. And if citizens around the police in Hialeah (or anywhere) were armed, police may think twice before shooting at a suspect, if the crowd shot back. Police, BATFE, FBI, etc. have become government sponsored thugs, and maybe crowds SHOULD shoot back at them.

Alan in London, how much has violent crime risen in England since the gun ban? Robert in Sarasota, you need to read this quote again, since your imagination has run wild. 9/11/2001 demonstrates criminals do what they want. Had there been 1 gun on each plane, the outcome may have been very different. How do you protect your family? My gun will remain on my hip when awake, and under my pillow as I rest.

Rosenthal, you prove the truth of this quote. Take off your rose colored glasses, see the tyranny in our current government, and RESIST IT.

Constitutional law is not sick, the people (congress, courts) who ignore it are sick.

Joe, Rochester, MI

David, let someone else do something remotely similar to your threats and letters, then see if the government doesn't come smashing thru your front door with a dozen agents.

Joe, Rochester, MI

Rosenthal, what did you do to try to get arrested? Archer, the Second Amendment is the original carry permit.

Joe, Rochester, MI

Reston and Archer, how should we "act" to stop the encroachment. How should people respond? Ken, is the Constitution supposed to be a "living, breathing" document?

Joe, Rochester, MI

Congress ignores the Bill of Rights as they see fit.

Joe, Rochester, MI

Today, it has become "just a guideline," but the Constitution used to be the foundation upon which laws were built, not built around.

Joe, Rochester, MI

Congress is doing the unconstitutional.

Facts are irrelevant during war and in 1934 the government declared marijuana has no medical benefit, putting the national emergency called "the war on drugs" into full swing. Marijuana relieves chronic pain (including migraines), reduces nausea, and increases appetite, and could be very beneficial to AIDS and cancer patients. Marijuana is bad only because the government can't tax the plants people grow. Marijuana is less addictive than nicotine or caffeine, and has obvious medical benefits, yet the government portrays it as worse than cocaine or alcohol. Prohibition is still not working. www.mpp.org

Reston, your response supports this quote...yet you rate it thumbs down. So, if you deny it, then it won't be true???

Joe, Rochester, MI

So, government abuse of power is not criminal? They really aren't crimes unless they "go the extra mile" in their illegalities? "Observation" only gets one star? Take off your blinders and see the government for the unconstitutional criminals they are!

The next line of the quote, "On the other hand, they do less easily move against him, believing that he has the gods on his side." Muslim extremists are the god-fearing and pious tyrants of Iran. Bush is a god-fearing tyrant and slave master, waging war on the Middle East. Take off your blinders...your self-righteousness is showing.

Power corrupts; but absolute power corrupts absolutely. Congress is corrupt and has absolutely stolen power from the people absolutely.

My example of not owning a gun for my "own good" because it will lead to my "own destruction" deals directly with this quote. You disagree with this quote, yet agree with the Cromwell quote. Both quotes challenge the reason to remove liberty from people. Whether it's "for your own good" or because you "may abuse it," are similar arguments for removing liberty. I don't want liberty removed, not at all, not from anyone. You seem to want liberty removed from others, but not from you.

Joe, Rochester, MI

Sure, I'm happy you agree you're a socialist. LOL So, I SHOULDN'T own a handgun because it will eventually lead to my own destruction? Do you own a gun, Rosenthal?

States are supposed to predominate over the federal government. "The powers not delegated to the United States [federal government] by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." So says the 10th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States. The Defense of Marriage Act is one example of the federal government unconstitutionally taking a States rights to govern themselves.

Joe, Rochester, MI

Rosenthal, why do you give this quote 0 stars while giving the Cromwell quote 5 stars? Your flip-flop demonstrates you are a liberal-socialist, and this thought process (actually lack of) is destroying our country and liberty.

Joe, Rochester, MI

Most laws were created on the belief that someone may abuse a liberty. That's what liberty is, making your own decisions, then being responsible for the consequences. Drug laws assume you will smoke yourself stoned at every opportunity, and a few may, regardless of laws. But putting a cancer patient in jail for self-medicating is more harmful than letting them use marijuana, which has been shown to be less addictive than coffee, and is not a "gateway" to harder drugs. It should outrage people that you can't use some cold medicines without putting your name on a list of "users." Think about that every time you show your "National ID Card" at the drug store.
