First, National Socialism is not the same as the socialism of that period or today's. Second, two years later [1929] Hitler stated that he regretted using the term socialism because National Socialism had nothing in common with the socialist movements or marxism in Germany. Third, by 1933 the National Socialist party formed a coalition government with the Conservatives in Germany with full support of the Industrials interests. Fourth, soon after, socialist, marxist, trade unionist, Jews, Gypsies, Slavs, the insane, and the mental retarded were arrested, imprisoned, medically experimented on [in some cases] and ultimately [12 million total] shot and buried in shallow mass graves or gassed and incinerated. This was an evil man but he did not do it alone. He did it in conjunction with the business community and the conservatives in Germany at the time and more importantly the millions of Germans who just went along with what seemed to fit their own prejudices. I might say that no two fascist governments were the same but all seemed to have these things in common: hatred for other ethnics groups, aggressive militarism, exceptional nationalism, and the backing of industrial corporations. I can give academic citations for all that I just wrote. Shame on all of you for not doing any homework and distorting the whole truth. 21Reply Popeye, Wichita 2/24/11 re: Jacob G. Hornberger quote Where in the constitution does it say we can have an Air Force, Mike? As for the quote ... Most laws are made to punish the poor criminals while the corporations and powerful can get away with it. Case in point, the only person involved with the Iran Contra Crime [Reagan, Abrams, Schultz, McFarland, North, Poindexter et al.] that served jail time was Bill Breeden. who stolen a road sign named for Admiral John Poindexter. Reply Popeye, Wichita 1/28/11 re: Albert Einstein quote My early life was filled with religion. I even served as a missionary for awhile. But then I learned to think for myself. Slowly, organized religion became to make sense as a way to control people -- their thoughts and behaviors which were not approved by the more fearful among us. I gave religion a chance and found it wanting. No amount of "spiritual philosophy" and rote recitation of faith principles can hold a candle to a handful of facts and empirical data. Einstein knew this. SaveOk2 Share on Facebook Tweet Email Print
