“We have war when at least one of the parties to a conflict wants something more than it wants peace.”

I like it a lot ! ! !  With, a giant "BUT", that is,  — assuming there is a conflict (real, made up or otherwise) and the one Party actually wants peace. Communists of the left and, fascists of the right (the scale of socialism), mingled with religious fervor advance compelled compliance, victimless crimes, government licenses, larceny with impunity (2nd plank of the communist manifesto, funny money, police state confiscations, etc.) and a dissolution of individual sovereignty, inalienable rights and liberty at nature's law — so that conflict and hostility are easily created / inflated.

"Peace" too often means subjugation to authority.  No peace without liberty and justice for all!  The desire for power is rarely quenched...

Only the mentally ill have war. The mentally healthy have patients and patience. Peace is the never ending maturity and development of addressing and correcting the disorders of existence
