Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. quotes: We are what we pretend to be. Proverbs says "As a man thinks, so he becomes." This is a psychological truism, Kurts quote is the food for counsellors, Psyches, and new age gurus.

Indeed, some would even go to say that to question is the answer!
