If I was asked to give a young person one piece of advice it would be to avoid debt as you would avoid a rattlesnake. Credit cards are real convenient, almost a necessity but pay them off monthly. Debt is slavery. 2 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/23/10 re: John Quincy Adams quote Both houses of the US Congress have degenerated into a bunch of lawyers who care not what is right for this country, but rather how they can buy votes and get reelected. People who would elect the likes of Reid, Pelosi, Barney Frank, Obama, and the like have lost their collective minds. 1Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/23/10 re: Luther Martin quote Reston, just how in the hell do you suppose to know what Jesus would do. Oh, I forgot, you Marxists know everything. 6 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/22/10 re: Thomas Jefferson quote Reston, the mess this country is in was definitely a bipartisan effort. If you think the dems are going to right the ship you are sadly mistaken. 2 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/22/10 re: Rev. Nicholas Collin quote When the likes of Harry Reid and Barney Franks are reelected, you know the country is in deep trouble. 4 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/22/10 re: Patrick Henry quote kimo, if it were only so, unfortunatly with the Start treaty we have already started down the road to disarmament. Thank you Mr Obamunist and the US Senate. 2 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/21/10 re: James Madison quote Politicians have done every conceivable idiotic thing under the guise of doing it for the "general welfare". Mostly done to promote the welfare of the politician. 1 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/21/10 re: John Locke quote Senor reek said it very well as did Cal. 1 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/21/10 re: Gilbert Keith Chesterton quote Log on to the Institute for Justice and see how many laws are passed to keep out competition in certain certain busnesses. Most licensing laws are passed for that purpose. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/20/10 re: George Mason quote If you doubt this quote, just look at the goings on in Washington. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/20/10 re: Donald Alexander quote If anyone should know, it would be Mr. Alexander. After all, he was the head of the IRS Gestapo. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/20/10 re: Booker T. Washington quote Waff, almost all of the people in the Congress are lawyers. What we need in the congress is sucessful businessmen and women, not a bunch of lawyers. And waff, why only two stars, Mr. Washington nailed it. 1 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/16/10 re: Thomas Jefferson quote Good stuff from one of the smartest men who ever lived. 4 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/16/10 re: Melancton Smith quote If we send it they will spend it. Dick perfectly described the people in Washington running (ruining) the country. 6 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/16/10 re: C. S. Lewis quote DM Bozeman, what do you think a corporation is. It's people, not some alien monster from Barney Franks district in Massachusetts. Most corporations are small businesses, not giant conglomerates. Your comment is nonsense, especially the last line. 2 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/15/10 re: Theophilus Parsons quote E Archer summed it all up perfectly. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/15/10 re: Anne Bowen Poulin quote 3 Cheers for Jury Nullification. Too bad that more jurors don't know about it. 1 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/14/10 re: Mike Robbins quote Has there ever been a trial judge that has told a jury about Jury Nullification ? I doubt it. For the younger folk on this site, Jury Nullification means that a jury can find not guilty if they think the law under which the citizen is charged, is wrong. Essentially, you can find a person not guilty regardless of the evidence and judges ain't going to mention this to any jury. Hell, most lawyers today aren't even aware of it. More's the shame. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/14/10 re: John Locke quote J summed it up perfectly. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/14/10 re: Samuel Adams quote Maybe the judge who ruled that the government cannot force anyone to buy health insurance has some respect for the constitution. It's obvious that very few in the Congress do. 1 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/13/10 re: St. George Tucker quote Waffler, please try to write something that makes sense. 4 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/10/10 re: Jeffrey R. Snyder quote Roy, is there something in British air that causes infantile comments such as yours ? 2 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/10/10 re: Jeffrey R. Snyder quote Remember the story from New York when a woman was being stabbed to death and people watched from their apartment windows and no one even called the police, much less going to her aid. They just didn't want to get involved. 1 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/10/10 re: Jeffrey R. Snyder quote After you are mugged, beaten, raped, robbed, or murdered, the police will be happy to make a report and try to find the culprit. We have to look to our own safety, not to the cops. 2 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/9/10 re: SA Oberfuhrer of Bad Tolz quote Seig Heil to the Brady bunch.
