Michelle is all about community when she takes off to Spain with 70 or so of her best friends and spends a few days at a ritzy hotel. at taxpayers expense. Then she has the audacity to say that being the first lady is "hell'. Maybe they were short one washcloth in her hotel room in Spain or room service took an extra 10 seconds to bring up the champagne. This bunch needs a permanent vacation in 2012.

The Socialiists don't bother to run a candidate anymore since the Republicrats have given them almost everything they wanted anyway.

A lady came in to Austin about 25 years ago and was interviewed on radio. She was running for president on the Socialist Party ticket. She enumerated all the wonderful things that would happen if she was elected. The interviewer asked what would be done if the citizens didn't want what she had to offer. Her answer was quite revealing, she said they would be FORCED to accept it by whatever means necessary. That's Socialism.

Much of the farming today is done by large corporations, so when the government props up the price of food products, such as cheese, they are aiding large corporations which liberals are always professing to hate. Farmers should sink or swim like any other business. Waffler, what "rational solutions" are you referring to? Perhaps it was when banks were told to make mortgage loans to people who couldn't possibly make the house payment. I think the term was "subprime loans". When government meddles it always makes matters worse.

Waffler , your comments ,as usual, make no sense. It's not a "big man" who steals someones money and gives it to someone else. J carlton said it well and Franklin Pierce was that rare President that seemed to respect the Constitution.

FDR orchestrated one of the greatest theft jobs in history when he outlawed gold and conned Americans into trading in their gold at the banks for paper. And to think that we arrest people for bank robbery when government does far worse daily. His policies to end the depression actually extended it until he was bailed out on December 7th,1941. Nothing like a good war to pull his chestnuts out of the fire.

Waff, are you totally insane. Do the tea party folk really scare you that much as compared to the CFR? Why do everyday Americans wanting to take their country back make you so nervous. Does Sarah Palin really make you quake in your liberal boots ? I haven't heard any of "these clowns" advocating destruction of any waterways ,bays, or estuaries. Maybe you get your information directly from the Communist party. I now refer to my opening line, are you totally insane, or maybe hopelessly ignorant.

The libs know this all too well and that's why they've shoved the socialist agenda down our throats a little bit at a time.

jim k, Austin, Tx

To the libs, excuse me, progressives, in Washington, the Constitution doesn't mean what it says, it means what they say it means.

J.B. said it well, the withholding tax was a "temporary" tax to finance World War 2. Once the politicians found out they could use it to bleed the taxpayer a little at a time instead of all at once they fell in love with it, and so much for that "temporary "part. As to Lasky, don't compare our current politicians to ass holes as assholes are vital and useful. Don't insult them by comparing them to folk like Reid, Pelosi, and Obama.

Some one once said that if you thought taxation without representation was bad, you ought to see it with representation. Most of our "representatives" are big government lefties who are into power and control and have nothing but contempt for the voters.who keep reelecting them.

We have been remiss in keeping the government from falling into error but we have a chance to change this in November , unless we turn out the miscreants and replace with some just as bad. Dispensing with the likes of Harry Reid will be a good start.

jim k, Austin, Tx

Waff, how about this for "constructive", vote out the libs in November and replace with some real Americans who have respect for the Constitution.

You will never hear a judge tell this to a jury, and that's a shame.

jim k, Austin, Tx

Good old Jury Nullification, long may it wave.

jim k, Austin, Tx

Waffler, I suspect that very few lawyers even know of jury nullification. I asked a top criminal lawyer from Ohio about it a few years ago and he had never heard of it. This man was president of the Ohio Association of Criminal Defence Lawyers at one time. Judges love to keep jury nullification a secret as knowledge of this for juries would limit their power.

Forget "natural law" for a minute and let's discuss man made laws passed by the the lovely people in government, local ,state, and federal. Many are for our good, some are just stupid and some are just plain wrong. Asset forfeiture laws are a great example of laws that are wrong. When cops can take private property when no crime was committed, or even if a crime is committed, something is sorely wrong. Many small town police departments are financed with property stolen in this manner. Congress passed these laws and can and should repeal them. All this mischief done on the basis of this horrible so-called war on drugs.

jim k, Austin, Tx

Inspite of how a judge charges a jury, a jury can have a not guilty verdict if they think the law is unjust, or for any reason for that matter. Since we now have about a zillion laws, many that are just plain wrong, we need to use jury nullification more than ever. No judge will ever mention jury nullification to any jury even if the judge is aware of it.

It's too bad that our colleges and universities aren't run today by men like Mr. Everett.

jim k, Austin, Tx

To the current crop of those who run our country, the Constitution is just something to ignore on their headlong rush to socialism.

jim k, Austin, Tx

Mike and Elaine summed it up for me.

jim k, Austin, Tx

Well said DJ and Carlton.

jim k, Austin, Tx

Walter said it well and the current crop of thugs in Washington are trying to finish the job.

jim k, Austin, Tx

As George Washington said, "Government is not reason, it is force. Like fire it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master".

jim k, Austin, Tx

Reston, what is "foolish" and "downright dangerous" is governments restrictive gun laws. The A.T.F., Alcohol ,Tobacco and Firearms should be a convenience store , not a government agency.
