How can you have democracy, when the politicians can be bought like slaves? Great wealth in the hands of a few allows politicians to be bought. That is what Justice Brandeis was saying. It has nothing to do with any isms. It is just the way of the marketplace. When wealth is more evenly distributed that doesn't happen. Bush sold us the tax cuts as a means of creating more jobs, he just neglected to say the jobs were overseas. The wealthy increased their fortunes as a result of this fraud, so I think it only fair that they forfeit that money back to the American people. That isn't socialism, that is justice.
