Ingersoll quote My teenaged son ( years ago ) saw a bumper sticker that read, "CHALLENGE AUTHORITY!" His response; "Sez who ?"I think Mr. Ingersoll would have been proud. I still laugh when we think of it. Reply Bobble, Charlotte, VT 8/11/14 re: Robert G. Ingersoll quote Mike -- books of the late 40's -- ALL gone ? Book-burners ! 1 Reply Bobble, Charlotte, VT 8/1/14 re: Benjamin Harrison quote ... indeed do we have ANY commission "from God" ? 1Reply Bobble, Charlotte, VT 8/1/14 re: Albert Camus quote ...which is to say, "innocent until proven guilty" -- and I don't know the source. Reply Bobble, Charlotte, VT 7/31/14 re: Jeff Landauer quote "...the only moral action." ONLY ? Reply Bobble, Charlotte, VT 7/28/14 re: Suheir Hammad quote I wish I felt as most do here that it's an easy situation to solve. My most recent and simplistic observation is, Hamas ( it's far too easy to disregard their part ) fires 1000 rockets, then counts 1000 deaths: a terribly stupid way to wage war, except for the world's sympathetic response at war deaths. Solutions, anyone ? I disagree with what I think I correctly recall the Nazis calling The Final Solution, whether Jew or Palestinian. Reply Bobble, Charlotte, VT 7/25/14 re: Justice Tom C. Clark quote Justice Clark was perfectly clear to those who made sense of what he said. I FINALLY decided he meant to say that, as with individuals or businesses, the freedom of speech or press applies: just as much, but no more than, to religion as well as to secular, individuals or groups. But as my dad used to say, after expressing an opinion ... "but I COULD be wrong !" ( Most of us ( yep, me too ) daren't say that; opens too wide our egos. ) Reply Bobble, Charlotte, VT 7/23/14 re: Lord Acton quote All too esoteric for my "pea brain." Isn't there somewhere a phrase about "on the head of a pin" ? That's what I feel like after we "liberty"-loving folks ( whatever THAT means ) try to tell others what "liberty" REALLY means. Say !, maybe that's it -- liberty is like "love," as one pointed out -- or "beauty" which "is in the eye of the beholder." Some things cannot be confined by man's description -- as one of the commenters stated, it "IS," ,,, but .. ahem, please feel at liberty to decline or disagree with my comment. Reply Bobble, Charlotte, VT 7/22/14 re: Plutarch quote Marginally, perhaps, but reminds me of Cassius to Brutus -- The fault lies not in our stars but within ourselves..." Reply Bobble, Charlotte, VT 7/17/14 re: Wendell Phillips quote Worth Googling and other Jefferson sources. Apparently a common "saying" in those days ? 1 Reply Bobble, Charlotte, VT 7/14/14 re: William O. Douglas quote Mr. Justice Douglas asks us to believe that words mean what they say and have meaning ? What a concept ! Reply Bobble, Charlotte, VT 7/11/14 re: Chester Bowles quote HEAR, HEAR ! ( Or is it, HERE, HERE ! ? ) Reply Bobble, Charlotte, VT 7/10/14 re: Thomas Jefferson quote ... or at least, should do so. SaveOk2 Share on Facebook Tweet Email Print
