Reply J Carlton, Calgary 4/19/10 re: Milton Friedman quote The distinction you still fail to make Waffler is the difference between free enterprise and government / corporate cronyism. One is good, one is bad. And your blanket statements running down pure free enterprise have no basis in fact or history anywhere. Reply J Carlton, Calgary 4/19/10 re: C. S. Lewis quote Waffler - don't get too comfortable. Tyranny is almost here. 1 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 4/19/10 re: Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. quote Let's hope the people of Arizona do not passively accept "National ID" today. Handing all of your personal information over the (SS) DHS is about as horrifying a thought as there can be. "You're Papers Pleeeez" Reply J Carlton, Calgary 4/19/10 re: Milton Friedman quote Waffler, you're an amazingly useful idiot. The meltdown was caused by the Clinton Admin and their pal Obama when they took the leash completely off of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae with their "everyone should own a house" fiasco. Your comment definitely demonstrates your less than basic knowledge of all things economic. Its just another brainwashed Liberal knee jerk reaction. 1 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 4/16/10 re: Charles-Louis de Secondat quote Mike, don't forget the suspension of Constitutional Rights as per the discretion of the DHS which answers only to the President. Kind of the same set up that was in place in a certain western European country in the 30's and 40's. Reply J Carlton, Calgary 4/16/10 re: C. S. Lewis quote Along with other catch phrase's like "For the common good" or "For the good of the people". Yeah right! What they mean is for "our own" good. Reply J Carlton, Calgary 4/15/10 re: Sen. Phil Gramm quote Good observation Mike, and one I agree with whole heartedly. 4 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 4/15/10 re: Maria Montessori quote Actually socialist/liberal anonymous I do a great deal to support my community and I put 20 kids through school every year in S. America. I just don't believe in a free ride for lazy assed liberal sycophants. What do you do? 5 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 4/15/10 re: Maria Montessori quote Does a career of collecting welfare count as being served? Because those people are not only parasites, they are prisoners of their own laziness. (Which is not to say that some aren't in genuine need, but the system is obviously a gravy train for far too many.) Reply J Carlton, Calgary 4/15/10 re: Sen. Phil Gramm quote What Sandra's "surface" thinking misses completely is that we have working poor due to existing government policies. Same goes for an elderly population so over taxed their entire working career that they are now unable to use their own savings to see them through, because they have no savings. "More" government is never the right solution. Reply J Carlton, Calgary 4/15/10 re: Ronald Reagan quote Stalin used bureaucracy to the effect of greater control. And now so does the White House. Reply J Carlton, Calgary 4/15/10 re: Sen. Phil Gramm quote This is correct. Government produces exactly nothing and can give no one anything it didn't rob Peter to pay Paul with. Reply J Carlton, Calgary 4/14/10 re: Lord Acton quote Waffler, I would call you the master of twist as you try and turn everything into a socialist utopia...problem is there is no socialist utopia and you're not all that masterful. The US government is in no way limited in accordance to the Constitution and Obamacare is about the worst piece of corrupted legislation ever in the US. Reply J Carlton, Calgary 4/14/10 re: P. J. O'Rourke quote As will be very much in evidence once "His Hopiness", the illegal President is finished destroying the economy and American values. 1 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 4/14/10 re: Mark Twain quote Especially when legislation tends to be so convoluted that Congressmen are only reading the numbers in the envelope. Reply J Carlton, Calgary 4/14/10 re: Lord Acton quote One need only look within the Beltway to see the truth in this quote. 3 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 4/13/10 re: Justice Hugo L. Black quote Waffler you were making some great sense until you got to Obamanomics and Gore. Both of those people are anathema to the American way of life. But you're right about the way people perceive "the News". 5 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 4/13/10 re: Justice Hugo L. Black quote Waffler, the same can be said of the Communist News Network and all the others. What's your point? Reply J Carlton, Calgary 4/13/10 re: Andrew Jackson quote Waffler, I've been arguing for our rights through every administration. But then, I'm a Libertarian. :) 3 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 4/13/10 re: Justice Hugo L. Black quote Propoganda. We don't get the news of the world, but merely spin. For example the European Union Times a few days ago had an article in which Pres. Sarkozy of France said Obama might well be insane and that he would probably be responsible for the next global war. He said this based on whom Obama is appeasing vs. who he is annoying with his so called foreign policies. Personally I think he's right about "His Hopiness". Reply J Carlton, Calgary 4/13/10 re: John Stuart Mill quote Order is an aspect of nature. Compliance is an aspect of governmental obedience. Yes we need laws...but laws of "Justice" only. 4 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 4/13/10 re: John A. Hobson quote And partly because they want everyone dependant on them, thus gauranteeing their stay at the gravy trough. Which also explains the welfare state that has replaced this once great country. 1 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 4/12/10 re: Czech Proverb quote Which is why every political scandal has a fall guy and not everyone responsible is punished. Reply J Carlton, Calgary 4/12/10 re: Andrew Jackson quote If we were to follow this quote as being logical, the government is no longer worth defending.
