Our leaders have become little more than ringmasters in a circus of fear and paranoia. They must be careful though as this is a double edged sword. Fear becomes hatred becomes loathing...and may be directed at the ringmasters.

And no one is loyal to government unless they are trained to be so, as Patriotism comes from a love for country and its way of life, not from government. No one fights for a country because they hate what's "over there". The do it because they love what they are "defending".

The ideology of freedom and liberty requires the individuals participation in the animated contest of achieving excellence. Again, the nanny state that doles out "don't work checks" to farmers and others has done it's best to kill this ideology, and create controllable dependants.

Our entire legal system is based on loose interpretation of a Constitution written with the wisdom of the ages. These interpretations are used as tools to further government control and largesse. At what point will we be forced to re-invent ourselves?

RBE, even though you have the best of intentions, you are clueless as to the ramifications of government controlled life and death issues. That way is the most uncivilized of all possibilities. Taking personal responsibility for your own existence without statist government coersion is the most civilized thing we could possibly do. Anon, good point. Presuming of course that we live to see a trial date. I'm more worried that our nation will fall to martial law and then anarchy than I am about due process. If our fiat currency were to collapse, and it very well might, we had better be prepared to defend ourselves from all manner of violent incursion.
