The word used most often that is twisted to purpose is probably "Patriot". Some feel that blind obedience is patriotism, it isn't, it's loyalism. Others feel they are patriotic to a country's founding principles. I stand with the latter, in a Jeffersonian sense.

Mike, my wife an I buy school supplies for 20 to 30 kids in Peru every year. Why Peru? Because there is no bureaucracy attached and the money actually goes somewhere. We also volunteer our time and money to renovate buildings at a nearby YMCA Outreach camp for underpriveleged kids. We do this with money we've already been taxed on. So I'm more than a little tired of the socialists who volunteer nothing but the taxation of others and call me greedy and selfish. As far as I'm concerned they should all be driven into the sea for being the thieving wastes of skin that they are.

If I am master of myself, I am free to achieve and I am free to do so in any way my talents allow. Always though, within the guidelines of natural law and with respect for the rights of others to do the same. I can define my freedom as being exactly that. If I am free to achieve excellence, thereby contributing to my standard of living and the community in which I live, then I must be free to do so. Democracy simply does not work in concert with autonomous liberty. It is in fact merely another form of social organizing. Add to that, two centuries of "interpreted law" loosely based on a Constitution that was meant to gaurantee our liberties and you have a "democracy wherein we lose our individual rights at the drop of a hat. And voting becomes political mastur.....

We used to call that common decency. Seems to have dried up in the new progressive "socialist" America.
