Atlas Shrugged, by Ayn Rand. When written, it was fiction...now?

Sigh. In 1932 Dad said Jews would soon take over the world. A friend of his said it would be the Irish. Another disagreed, saying it would be the French. Conspiracy, manipulation, call it what you like. There are those who truly believe in a one world government, an idea I oppose and would conspire against.

Power, be it in the form of money or political influence, is merely what we allow it to be. Admittedly, principled living means daily adversity. As an American, I am not a citizen of this planet, I am a citizen of the United States. A one world society simply means comfortable slavery for some, crushing discipline for others. Every Monday I mail a postcard to our president. The one sentence thereon reads: "Sir, The United States of American is a Christian nation." We must allow other faiths freedom of religion, but not at the expense of our own.

Historically valuable. But..."We the people..."? Hardly. "We, the elite..." more likely. That was then, this is now, yet little has changed. Tyrannical majority and hypocrisy are still alive and well in our congress regardless of political party. Yes, we still have a two party system; the powerful and the powerless.
