It is incorrect to say this quote is quote is from Rosalie Gordon's 'What Happened to Our Schools?' (1956).  This quote does not appear anywhere in that pamphlet. (A copy can be found at http://projectdaps.org/items/show/2009)  @Plato, Athens, above suggested this quote is "often linked" to a completely different phrase that does appear in 'What Happened to Our Schools.' But the words in this quote simply aren't there.
