Suppression is a conscious and forceful action to put an end to something, destroy it, or prevent it from existing. Religious "fundamentalists", who apparently are called by the same name whether they are stoning women in the middle east or calling for prayer in public schools, are in all actuality a part of the majority in what those who study collective action refer to as the civilization process. Oppression, on the other hand, refers to the subjugation of a person to a harsh or cruel form of domination. Throughout history, many people groups have been oppressed; however, I find it truly laughable that American atheists count themselves among that group. "Out of a fear of advocating a religion, we have stopped advocating morality." SaveOk2 Share on Facebook Tweet Email Print
