The reason for the thumbs down is the statement is to black and white and that's easy - there is no true feeling or understanding of the reality of human existence in this quote. The hypocrisy is unbelievable -- it's OK to have policy when there is law (not necessarily Order) but before when law had not been the direction of the state, when there was no social order, you would take without remorse. We came here and killed our way across America and now when social reform requires you to give back a little you stamp your foot and say no. The great oxymoron must be associating socialism and fascism in the same sentence -- socialism has its roots in anti government. Before we can truly move forward there needs to be harmony amongst the four human groupings -- the masses, the warriors, intellectuals, and the merchants. Therefore, we must rethink our arguments when faced with one understanding -- which one Group (varn■as) dominates.

Where are those citizens today while our liberties are being eroded? We all too easily give up our freedom for temporary security (I think BF said that) and then once the threat has been vanquished our freedom is not restored. When you chop away at an apple to dig out bad bit you have chopped more good than you have bad, likewise with totalitarianisms, they manipulate the public into thinking there is a threat and then the pen comes out and they start to chop. All things are manipulated to satisfy those who have an agenda be it good or bad. It’s not always a good thing to say what’s on your mind; those are the things that are the ambers of war. So being politically correct is not necessarily a bad thing it’s just a matter of being considerate. Politic is a matter of life and we experience it as we go about our daily chores – those that have the responsibility of governing us are just an extension of the individual politic, but its practice/meaning is the same. To say something that you know to be derogatory and that’s not been provoked is uncouth. Rights can mean different things within time, what we considered to be right 200 years ago is not necessarily considered right today. Rights in their absolute state can not exist in a world of humans that’s why we are here. By the way, what was the first experiment on our liberties?

Unfortunately it's your contempt for the values that Christ preached that is the cause for hypocrisy on the highest of levels. How dare you preach the word of God and say our country was founded on his teachings when those same people were responsible (I'm presuming like you did of me that you are a Christian) for killing thousands of Indians (genocide is what it was) - yes you may feel comfortable in your living room but the sword you swing without knowledge is the brave heart's remorse. I am neither for nor against Gun Control as I do not have a true understanding of the problem or subject. While guns protect us against crime (though that has been proven incorrect as most are killed by their own weapon) and fascist Governments (though in America I can't see that happening) do they really act as a safeguard against the reason for having them. We killed off the Indians with guns to grab their land. Likewise, we killed off the Mexicans to grab their land - I really do not understand the argument for or against the right to bear arms, all I know is that they do a lot of killing. I do not believe the human race is ready to give up protecting itself with guns; perhaps one day that may change but not today. If a million Americans were killed by some cataclysmic event we would demand immediate answers and heads would roll but because it happens in the one's and two's (usually) we think nothing it. 3000 get killed on 911 and we invade another country - since 1933 it is estimated that 1.5 million Americans have been killed with firearms more than have died on the battlefield this century - perhaps I shouldn't have noticed...
