Our form of government is not a democracry that our founders warned us against. That is the tyranny of the masses. Reply jim k, austin 12/10/09 2 Reply J Carlton, Calgary 12/10/09 Men are equal only in respect to their inalienable rights. God / Nature will dictate how well they do in life, not democracy and not communism. Neither of those political theories are natural to anything living. Which is why we need an administration of professional and accountible managers...not political poll driven whores. A "Republic" of free people, not Globalist slave state government. Democracy didn't work then and it doesn't work now. Reply RBESRQ 12/10/09 What a great quote - I love that man - Plato did well to produce such a brilliant student. And, was tutor to the greatest General that has ever lived, Alexander The Great; which kind of disproves the Armies "DADT" stupid and ignorant policy. 1 Reply Mike, Norwalk 12/10/09 Five stars for the accuracy of the statement, thumbs down for its application. The nobility of Aristotle's premise was based in a perception of morality and founded on good intentions (both prone to wildly held interpretations). It is the Greek's positivist philosophy (rule of man), and majority rule (democracy), in application that has been so devastating to humanity. Instead of building on the nobility of the individual, Aristotle's democracy focused on the intangible abstract whole. By way of example: the tree is insignificant, only the forest (man created correlation and description - as a whole) has value. Tyre was one of the first failed applications of the concept. The Greek philosophy that all matter is evil; only that which is unchanging is perfect, therefor not evil, added to the problem. (because all things material change - trees grow, die, and decompose - they are not perfect. Only the abstract forest stays the same.) If they are equal in any respect, they are equal in all respects became democracy's forest. Reply cal, lewisville, tx 12/10/09 Aristotle placed TRUTH even above Plato! A total impossibility if ever there was one. Even the best of twins have different characteristics and learn different facts and interpretations. Equality of good intentions, maybe .. but ... none of us have ever met his "equal."Definition, sir, definition. Reply Jim k, Austin 12/1/15 1 Reply E Archer, NYC 12/1/15 Those clamoring for equality are hoping to raise themselves up -- they acknowledge that their expectations are to receive benefits currently unavailable to them once their 'rights' are recognized by those they wish to bring down who will then progressively turn over their property until everything is 'fair'. They call it 'equality' -- those whose property has been voted away call it 'tyranny.' Reply Robert, Somewhere in Europe 12/2/15 Yes, the stupidity of democracy...
