Leo, where do you get "liberate" from that quote? He wants to be treated as if he was a god and to destroy economic freedom. That's a dictator, not a liberator.

This has to be the clearest definition of any ideology I've ever heard. The stronger and more capable you appear, the more we'll take from you, and weaker and more desperate you look, the more you'll get. Enslave the productive to serve the unproductive. A totally self-destructive belief, but every human being should know and understand this quote.

This isn't really about the Civil War or leaving the Union. This is about how advocates of slavery said that their system was similar to socialism and communism, and was thus more just than the "wage slavery" of capitalism, and how socialists still use the same arguments (without the slavery part, of course).

Anonymous, why the thumbs down?

Matt, just because he shows the bad side of socialism, does not make him an idiot. You're just mad that he dislikes your political idiology, so you insult him.

I think it's quite obvious that you can have morality without faith.

D.M., you missed the point of the quote. He meant that you help people by building them up, not by tearing others down - that's pretty basic morality and common sense. As for "exporting jobs overseas", that just means getting jobs to desperately poor people whever they are, rather then giving them to slightly poor people that live closer to you.

Look at his other quotes, he's talking about inalienable (or natural) rights and collectives (combinations of individuals).

Dick, socialism requires people to give up rights, like the right to keep what they earn, and that takes force. Capitalism is about voluntary trades, not force.

Maybe I misunderstood him, but this sounds insane. Can anyone help?

Raymong, you may like both democracy and socialism, but they are completely separate ideas.

I don't like Bush, but social "justice" is the opposite of freedom.
