People will give up anything and everything when a war is in progress. WW2 was a great example and that's why there is always some sort of war in progress. It's a great way for government to control people.

As to the quote, Winston is right and Obama is wrong. King "O" wants to raise taxes and has the gall to tell us that this is the debt solution. He knows it isn't but Socialists like Obama love high taxes and he has no intention of solving the debt situation. He loves it.

There is nothing fair about a graduated income tax, sorry Dick. Beware of the flat tax idea as it will probably be set very high by our friends (fiends) in the Congress. My idea would be to get rid of 90% of all government bureaus, stop most, if not all, subsidies and foreign aid, and there would be no need for an income tax or most other taxes. We could also save a few hundred million by making Pelosi fly on regular airlines,preferably coach, and stopping all those million dollar vacations by Michelle and her herd.

Obamas scheme to "tax the rich" and make them pay "their fair share" is nothing more than class warfare to make people like Reston believe he is interested in the "little guy". Those "little guys" should hate the rich and vote for His Royal Highness, Barack Obama.

If a business gets added taxes, these taxes become part of the cost of doing business and are passed on to the consumer. In the end,whether it's a small business or large corporation, the added taxes are paid in the form of higher prices.

Politically unpopular speech is another thing. Try getting permission for a conservative to speak on the average college campus and see how far that gets you. And God help you if you dare say one slightly negative thing about Islam.

I may sound like I'm shilling for J Carlton, but he is exactly right on this. It's amazing that our economy has survived as well as it has with all this government "help". Free enterprize and free trade works wonders, we should try it somtime.

I'm with J on this. There is some hope in South America as they are starting to have doubts as to this so-called "War on Drugs".Maybe getting rid of it will start South of the border.
