Drug laws are a perfect example of vices as opposed to crimes. These laws have, however,created lots of jobs, jail constuction, prison guards, drug courts, and thousands of DEA cops to name only a few. When this insane "war on drugs" is finally over, the world will be a far better and more peaceful place.

As to the "Great Emancipator" freeing the slaves, Lincoln only "freed" the slaves in the States that wanted to seceed. This war was primarily about secession, not about freeing any slaves. The South got all the flak about slavery but it actually started in the Northern states.

The main function of unions is to keep out competition. Texas is a right to work state and we have probably the best economy in the country now. We also have no state income tax , thank goodness.

In New York City there are about 3000 teachers that are so incompetent that they aren't allowed to teach. Also, thanks to the teachers unions, the still are paid and aren't allowed to be fired. Think of it, teachers being paid not to teach.

How about outsourcing the government to the people who run Wal-Mart. They have built the biggest company on earth and would certainly know more about running things than that bunch of lawyers in congress.

When Lyndon ran for congress he was defeated by about 3000 votes, A recount changed all that and he was elected by 48 votes. Thus the name "Landslide Lyndon". In Duval County, famous for being the last county in Texas to report in elections, quite a few dead democrats rose from their graves and voted in the recount and several ballot boxes mysteriously disappeared , later to be found in the river. Waffler ,wrong again. This country has a spending problem and the last thing we need is more taxes. Lower taxes would fuel the economy and help get us out of this depression created by both Republicans and Democrats. The answer is to cut spending and taxes and get rid of most government bureaus. Getting rid of the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Education, The Department of Energy, HUD, OSHA, and the EPA would be a good start. Then these bureaucrats would have to find honest work.

The American sheeple, most anyway, will give up freedom for security everytime. Then ,eventually, they will have neither.

A great example of a "temporary tax" is the payroll deduction tax which was supposed to finance WW2 which ended in 1945,the war, not the tax. This was meant to end after the war but the government loved it since they could bleed the suckers(us) a little at a time and we would hardly notice it. That's when we got the term"take home pay".
