Paul Craig Roberts Quote

“The tax that was supposed to soak the rich has instead soaked America. The beneficiary of the income tax has not been the poor, but big government. The income tax has given us a government bureaucracy that outnumbers the manufacturing work force. It has created welfare dependencies that have entrapped millions of Americans in an underclass that is forced to live a sordid existence of trading votes for government handouts.”

How on earth could you say it any plainer. This quote sums it up perfectly, something to remember as we approach April Fools Day on April 15th.

Dr. Tom LaMar, Keeseville, NY

...and it's big companion, the "Federal Reserve" act of 1913, allowing private banks to create money and lend it to the government as if they earned it, but actually "legally" counterfeited it to our total detriment of now over $14 trillion, unpayable, and therefore a ponzi scheme/fraud by any legal standard. Congress has the power to do away with it still as it always has, but you don't see anyone jumping on that do you:? I esp. admire the RPs and most esp. Kuciinich for his 111th bill HR6550 to pay it all of with a TARP/QE2- like sum of government "generated" money, for which there would never again be a "national debt" (let alone the interest, which is how the real money is "made" and transfered to "undisclosed locations" in Europe, like UBS?...Gramm is enjoying his retirement/ reward job there for doing away with the Glass-Steagal act, which should instead be reinstated world-wide). Money created as debt must leave the planet forever ! GNP money or nothing...let the chinese buy gold at over $100k/oz and be done with it, as it's just a "nice" commodity in the GNP anyway. Have you read Louis T McFadden yet?

J. Allen, Arlington, VA

Not only is he correct but I believe it was the original intent. A plan of forced government dependency to ensure power under the guise of helping people.

J Carlton, Calgary

I forget who it was that said..."Black people have been voting Democrat for 40 years...and they're still poor" Which is symptomatic of the state creating a dependant class that will always vote for whoever feeds it. Abolish welfare and wealth redistribution (communism) and teach personal responsibility.

Roberts is here trying to associate a . . . 1960s - 70s, etc liberal / progressive's agenda with the original socialist / one worlders plan of total destruction, power, and control (somewhat accurate but no where near broad enough). Both, the income tax and social security act of 1913 were to give the Federal Reserve value and to make dependent helots, serfs, and otherwise slaves of a once free sovereign. Government bureaucracy that outnumbers the manufacturing work force, the theocracy's welfare dependencies, Amerika's millions of entrapped lower caste (the once sovereign free) are forced to live a sordid existence of trading votes for government privileges and otherwise handouts. "Man is no less a slave because he is allowed to choose a new master once in a term of years." (Lysander Spoonner)

Dr. Tom LaMar, Keeseville, NY

Mike, I had to google "social security act of 1913 " myself, not being sure of the date of enactment, but found it was 1935...but the section "1913" is used in reference to hospitals in the link below. http://www.ssa.gov/OP_Home/ssact/title19/1913.htm

Dr. Tom LaMar, thanks, good research - I understand about the implementation sequencing. I can't remember the exact year when all the state employees, railroad, etc. were finally brought into social security system, finalizing the total consumption of the once free sovereign(s).

J Carlton, Calgary

Mike and Dr. Tom, Social Security was initiated during the Great Depression. People from the Government were literally "working the soup lines" selling SS to people who were desperate for security of any kind even the opportunity to dig ditches only to fill them back in under Government programs, in order to recieve a check so they could feed their families. It was a trick to create dependence and expand taxation. And given the circumstances...it worked very well.

history repeats

E Archer, NYC

The mistake is thinking the result was not planned. Same old con of tyrants. If the good people don't study history and learn from it, the bad people who did study history will use the age-old techniques of oppression to rule the world.

Rudy, Houston, TX

True then, truer now.

When one reads the true history of the Great Depression you'll find that the government caused it by creating easy credit and wall street did their share to bring itself down by allowing buying stocks on the margin. Once the Depression was in full swing and Roosevelt took the reins, he made it worse by creating busy work (ccc) and many other socialistic programs that did nothing but create a dependency class of people who would always and perpetually vote to increase their "benefits." We're doing the same darned thing today. It's exactly because the bad people have read history and know how to bring down an economy on purpose, whereas the first Great Depression was caused by stupidity and compassion by liberals who thought they were doing a good thing.

With everyone dependent on strips of paper that the first users get withour limit for nothing, whose independence is celebrated anuualty on the FARCE of July? Shortly after his first inauguration as president of the United States, Ronald Reagan said "We must respect the independence of the Fed," I heard him! The Fed said their system of plunder "works only with credit" that would keep its value "if there were fewer people bidding against each other."---We cannot pay taxes with credit or with anything less than silver coins that are measured in dollars. In spite of endless reports that our misleaders spend "trillions of dollars" no one in authority can describe the money that our misleaders spend AND KEEP THEIR HEADS. Our misleaders have no use for money as long as all of us will risk our lives for strips of paper that have not been promises to pay for 47 years, You can sing "land of the free til donkeys fly" but as long as you beg or labor for strips of paper that the first users get without limit for nothing, you are a slave of those first users and will remain so as long as you waive your rights on tax returns and jail your neighbors who decline to waive theirs. You could be a millionaire and still a slave if you do anything solely to avoid punishment for not performing. You may ask, what does slavery matter if you have more money than you can spend? Well, our masters must ruthlessly regulate the ratio of production to consumption lest consumption exceeds production and the Satanic system collapses as the money that Keynes called "worthless" becomes useless paper. Can there be a better way to enhance the ratio of production to consumption than to eliminate non productive consumers such as bablesm retirees, cripples and military? Do you see why abortion was legalized, why our water is chlorinated and fluoridated, why the FDA authorizes our poisoning with aspartame when they list 93 symptons of aspartame poisoning, why milk, sugar and tobacco, all killers, are subsidized and why we have endless wars always fought for soecious reasons? To better understand, please see: www.morpix.biz, ww.dorway.com. and www.morpix.biz/x17 but keep in mind that you can be jailed for not waiving your rights on tax returns even with no law that requires most of us to file returns. www.morpix.biz/notreq

So set them free. Abolish the Federal Reserve; go back to the gold standard and enact laws that will imprison those that would seek to enslave a nation. Of course this would mean putting huge limitations on corporations. Gee what would happen then? There would be a short term of suffering, but if it was done right the playing field would be levelled and all could participate in capitalism at its best and all that it has promised.

J Carlton, Calgary

Hanson, you are definately on to something there. Having Corps. operate within a system of Justice as opposed to a system of Laws would be a great start. And since the Government itself behaves as a Corporate entity that can (irresponsibly) print all the money it wants while charging it back to the electorate...let's start there! :)

Robert, Somewhere in the USA

I agree with the first two sentence's but the third needs to be written more careful as it misses two very important issues.

Robert, Somewhere in the USA

Abolish the FR, IRS, CIA, PA, NDA, NSC, Money in politics, cut DD by 85%, bring all our troops, home, shut down the 700 bases abroad, Medicare for all, severely prosecute police brutality, and a lot more.... Perhaps then America can return to a sense of reason and sensibility.

A wise old man said, " If you put a servant on a horse, he will ride away as a king." let us not be ruled by servants. Supreme Court rulings concerning the "income" tax, it is found to be an excise tax applicable to non-resident aliens and foreign corporations. The 16th Amendment did not authorize any new type of tax, nor did it repeal or revoke the tax clauses of Article 1 of the United States Constitution. and the Supreme Court further states," Therefore it can clearly be determined from the decisions of the United States Supreme Court that the income tax is an indirect tax, generally in the nature of an excise tax." that the income tax is not a tax on the individual sovereign, but rather a tax described by the U.S. Supreme Court as " taxes laid upon the manufacture, sale, or consumption of commodities within the country, upon licenses to pursue certain occupations, and upon corporate privileges," none of which apply to the resident sovereign individual un-privileged. Chief Justice White, Report No. 80-19A updated January 17, 1980. American Law Division Library of Congress. as also Stanton v. Baltic Mining Co. 1916. Brushaber v. Union Pacific R.R. 1916." Constructive Fraud as well as actual fraud may be the basis of cancellation of an instrument." El Paso Natural Gas Co. v. Kysar Insurance Co. 1979. The Courts have recognized and acknowledge that individuals can be nontaxpayers, " ... for with them Congress does not assume to deal and they are neither the subject nor of the object of revenues laws." as stated by the Court in Long v. Rasmussen and Delima v. Bidwell, and Gerth v. United States. 1955. Avoid voluntarily executed instruments such as a 1040. prima facie evidence that would wave your constitutionally secured rights.

Fredrick William Sillik, Anytown

It appears that the individual who believes in fairness is at a very great disadvantage in governmental relations or any relations for that matter. All relations are intertwined and associated. The non-player is the only one that will give you a fair treatment.
