Abraham LincolnAbraham Lincoln, (1809-1865) 16th US President

Abraham Lincoln Quote

“Discourage litigation. Persuade your neighbors to compromise whenever you can. Point out to them how the nominal winner is often a real loser - in fees, expenses, and waste of time. As a peacemaker the lawyer has a superior opportunity of being a good man. There will still be business enough.”

One of the most insightful looks into his mind ! The cat was let into the room, and he knew it. Discouraging litigation, Be a peace maker. Words wisely spoken. Paul spoke also along these lines of things amongst ourselves. Mark that perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace. A Psalm of King David, 37:37, in one accord, 101:6, as Job 36:4. Phil 3:13, IICorin 10:12thru18 . Press toward the mark, brethren.

Read the "Real Lincoln" to find out the truth about the worst president ever. Another great book is "Lincoln Uber Alles" ( over all) is another book on Lincoln which exposes him.

In Texas, like Florida, the loser must pay both lawyers and all court costs. Jim K, I agree with you and hope to read book soon.

I am in absolute harmony with the 'discourage litigation' and being a 'peace maker'. To the contrary, history has shown over and over again that attorneys encourage litigation and are agents of disruption because there is never business enough. I agree with the first 2 sentences, the rest is, - well, umm, wishful thinking at best.

A lot of my friends went into law for honorable reasons -- unfortunately they had to follow to the rules of the court or else lose their license to practice law. Now they can only earn a living by suing people or furthering statism. It seems that lawyering is all about keeping people irresponsible and profiting from the 'blame game.'
