C. S. Lewis Quote

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their consciences.”

John F Passero, Floida

It reminds me of the religious people who knock on my door every month or so, with their booklets or pamphlets showing me why I should adopt their beliefs.

Since when is it always the preachers, being the busybodies.
Freedom to mind your own business, makes for a happy soul.
If any religion tells you not to dance, drink, smoke or play cards, Well, now they are after the smokers. If so, do not let them in the door ! Happy is he, who condemneth not himself, in that thing which he alloweth. At one time it was dietary law, that separated. That seems to be coming back also. We came to this country to be free from idiots, busy bodies, and people in government who listen to henpecked men, wanting to do what she thinks is best. You can thank greed in the banking industry for the mess we are in. And the ego maniacs who think they are doing a good job. Hiding behind the 5th.
