“If the people will lead, eventually the leaders will follow.”

Joe, Rochester, MI

Leaders will follow only when the people revolt, otherwise, they do whatever they want at our expense.

Dick, Fort Worth

It's easy and tempting to be cynical for so many leaders, so VERY many leaders, are corrupt that it takes great pains to correct their direction, but it can be done, and it's everyone's duty to make efforts through dissent and speaking out to turn them around.

Mike, Norwalk

It is true, if the individual sovereigns would act in their status of being, those that now call themselves leaders would be reduced to servants with an inalienable rights representative duty.

Bob, Charlotte, VT

The problem tends to be the definition of "the people." Not ALL the people are of the "thinking" variety, uninformed and not caring, already taking from governments ( and happily so, since someone else is paying for the benefits ).
Our democratic republic fails in its education responsibilities and the products are more concerned with "free stuff" than with the history and freedoms fought-and-died for over the years.

E Archer, NYC

If the people will lead, maybe we can lose those that seek to be our 'leaders.' What is all this 'leader' nonsense anyway? Do we ever get to grow up and lead ourselves? Life is not supposed to be a series of social programs -- what a boring and dull existence following someone else's dogmatic view of the world, and making me a servant of it for life. Why are we electing 'leaders' -- I don't want a leader, I want a representative. We don't need dictators, we need administrators of the rules we have set up for the government, not the other way around.
