Wow! "...A universal licence to be good." Now that is what Freedom is - If you have never read his fathers (Samuel Taylor Coleridge) poems, read him and you will understand.

OK, obviously expanding on poetic license ? ? ?

Robert, I was going to state I was not familiar enough with his works to understand where he was going with this.

For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power ? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same. So much can be said on behalf of goodness. Seek after that which good is. A wholesome tongue is a tree of life. Love worketh no ill to his neighbor: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

Robert, St. Emilion, France

Ron, excellent! When you are good, like when you tell the truth, both have the reward to be free. One of conscience and the other of memory....

The fruits of the Spirit of God. Nine in all. Nine months gestation. A very great blessing for all. Beginning with love, ending with temperance. Only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by Love serve another. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another. If a man be overtaken in a fault ( such as socialism ) , ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness, considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. The new creature in Christ. The Holy Spirit of Liberty and Freedom. Seven words, seven notes, a rule to measure with. Brethren, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.

Yes Freedom can be taken to mean 'a universal licence to be good' and that better include 'to one and all and to youeself too' .. because if I do not make 'my freedom known' the world around can 'fetter me in' for their specific purposes.

Robert, St. Emilion, France

While you belong to a deity you are not free - you are bound by their rules, their dogma... You are bound by their prejudice - you are not free to think for yourself - you are a slave....

Ron w13, Or

The purpose of freedom in this nation is Eleutheria liberty giving way to Apeleutheros liberty. Access to our Creator. We are the property of God. Not of man or the state. Manumission from slavery. We are purchased by the innocent blood upon our alter of freedom. We have a propitiation in the shed blood of Christ, and are set at these liberties to declare before the world, natural law and inalienable rights ordained by our God. That is the God of Abraham. The warning is clear !

Befitting for the day, 8-13. ( Proverbs 8:13 ). The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy , and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
Froward, ( Tahpukah ) a perversity or fraud.
Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength. By me kings reign, and princes decree justice. By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth. I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me. Doth not wisdom cry ? and understanding put forth her voice ? This is our God and the God of our salvation of individuals and our nation. The Lord is my strength and song, and is become my salvation. Blessed are they that keep his testimonies , and that seek him with the whole heart. Give me liberty or give me death ! The righteousness of thy testimonies is everlasting: give me understanding and I shall live. Concerning thy testimonies, I have known of old that thou hast founded them for ever ! I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil. Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it.
