“War is in fact the true nurse of executive aggrandizement.”

In the last century we have rolled one war or military action into the next so that we do now find ourselves in a place where the Executive has gained an inordinate share in this triad of a supposed governmental balance of power. Aggrandizement will reach new levels of understatement if the new Congress votes to let Bush escalate this tragic war.

WOW, I like it!

Bigger government = lesser freedoms. Always has, always will. It seems, from the government's point of view, that the reason government even exists is to grow. Ever heard of a government getting smaller? We always need bigger government, especially in times of "crisis" and "war".

If we as citizens of a free republic will not defend ourselves against our own government's abuses, we will end up serfs upon our own land.
