Joyce Cary Quote

“For good or evil, man is a free creative spirit. This produces the very queer world we live in, a world in continuous creation and therefore continuous change and insecurity.”

Pity the socialists and their union hacks who are always trying to save the jobs of the buggy whip makers can't get this through their skulls. If you want a job, train for it and earn it. It is not a right.

... what can one say, the rodent's comments are orthogonal to the content of the quote (again)... a fizzy (thinking) little (minded) rodent who worships conformity one moment and free spirit the next...

hellokitty, what the heck are you rambling about?

There is no worship of conformity or non-conformity, actions should be rationally decided on with the understanding of the benefits and consequencies. I must admit some words were lost in the sending, but the point is simple and clear. In a free society there is insecurity. Freedom means the freedom to fail too. If there is always a government safety net, or a union trying to preserve an obsolete job, that is not freedom. There is no freedom in socialism, Marxism, unionism, government safetynets or any variation of the nannystate. If you want to be free be responsible for yourself.

This is known in economics as creative destruction. The entrepreneur innovates and creates something new and at the same time destroys some or all of the value of something older that it replaces. That is how we achieve economic growth. The socialist and labor unionist would freeze the economy and let it stagnate just so he could keep his little piece of the pie (security). What they don't understand is that the pie can get bigger for everyone if they take a chance and let capitalism work.
