I'm not sure this is true anymore. The sword, used long enough and not so much that it's obvious, kills the spirit.

Christopher Cobb

But if used for a great length of time, the sword feeds the spirit. Thus.. in the end... the spirit will always subdue the sword

The spirit, behind the sword........conquers evil, and wins. Well, what should we expect, it came from France.

Sometimes the spirit needs to fight fire with fire.

hmm, the spirit here would have to be defined but, OK, I'll go along with that. Love, truth, and other absolutes will eventually raise their head (individual and/or in concert) to arrest evil when it becomes sufficiently unbearable.

He must have been using this philosophy at Waterloo.

The spirit is as much in need of being 'armed' as an army, only the weapons are the eternal truths that empower the spirit.  Trumpets brought down the walls of Jericho  if one is on the side of right, victory is already yours.  That is the way of the Spirit.
