Jackson Quote “Particularly when the war power is invoked to do things to the liberties of people, or to their property or economy that only indirectly affect conduct of the war and do not relate to the engagement of the war itself, the constitutional basis should be scrutinized with care. ... I would not be willing to hold that war powers may be indefinitely prolonged merely by keeping legally alive a state of war that had in fact ended. I cannot accept the argument that war powers last as long as the effects and consequences of war for if so they are permanent -- as permanent as the war debts.”Justice Robert H. Jackson ~ Justice Robert H. Jackson (1892-1954), U. S. Supreme Court Justice Woods v. Cloyd W. Miller Co., 333 U.S. 138, 147 (1948). ICE and Border Services is still conducting its campaign of harrassment on our Highways with its "You're papers please" roadside checkpoints...Does anyone still believe that government is benevolent, that we are free people or that we have any real representation at all? We don't. Nullify the Fed, Withdraw from the UN and Restore the Republic. Reply Mary - MI 5/4/12 Reply E Archer, NYC 5/4/12 Right, Carlton, the GOP wage war on 3rd world nations because somehow they are a threat to the most powerful nation on the Earth, and the Demos wage war domestically on the People themselves by treating all as wards of the state needing permission to do anything and everything. Is this just a human condition or an American one? I wish Americans were more interested in the truth than trying to save everyone else. Reply J Carlton, Calgary 5/4/12 Right Archer... anyway you look at it, it's two, rotten to the core political parties taking turns bending the nation over to line the their own pockest and those of their corporate buddies. All the while the Fed prints debt notes out of thin air....we're finished if people don't wake up to this crap. Reply Mike, Norwalk 5/5/12 Great comments, thanks J Carlton and Archer.
