Liberty and freedom are inalienably constant with man as a faculty of birth. If president Regan had referenced, it is the manifestation of that liberty and freedom that contracts, I would have given this quote 100 stars. When liberty and freedom are solely measured on the perception of an individual 'being acted upon', not the inalienable 'act', man has lost the vision, that he is inherently the noble child of God (no matter how you define that God - a tangible being, an intangible concept, an eternal force, nature, etc.), and that as a faculty of birth, he is sovereign.

Editor, Are you sure Reagan said this or was it written for him.

Joe, North Caldwell, NJ

I wish someone had reminded Bush & Cheney of that a few years ago.

E Archer, NYC

Reagan rescinded more previous Executive Orders than any other president, and made strides to return power and responsibility back to state governments. While he certainly had his faults, his actions did indeed demonstrate his belief of this statement. Reagan had some good speech writers like Lyn Nofziger. But Reagan was not an idiot -- he believed what he was saying and could hold his own in press conferences and interviews -- unlike GWB.

Nice and short and sweet.

Sometimes the simplest ideas are the most true.

Dick, Johnsburg IL

Could we send an anthology of Reagan's quotes to Obama. Probably throw in a dozen or so from Lincoln for dessert.

Gabe, duluth, GA

I agree with dick. Oh, and Joe from NJ, Bush and Cheney did well enough with that, but Obama and Hilary on the other hand threw it on a runway and ran it over with Airforce One.
