If you are fighting for your rights wouldn't you be fighting against your country? From his point of view in the confederacy of what rights did he speak? Perhaps he meant the right to deny others their rights.

That would be the right of self determination, warren, even though they had a warped vision on the rights of men who happened to be slaves.

not all southerners fought for slavery but most fought against the oppression of states' rights which is what their forefathers fought for...

We will fight again, for our liberty from the tyrants who have enslaved us and our children and our future generations!

If you will not have States' Rights, you shall not enjoy Civil Rights, of long duration. Read "Black Confederates" by Charles Kelly Barrow. If THAT does not wake you from your delusions, you are truly a casualty of Liberty!

Jackson knew that slavery was wrong and on its way out. He was teaching slaves religion even tho it was forbidden and others were trying to teach them politics to prepare them for a life after they became free.

Enclosed you will find a check for that object, which please acknowledge at your earliest convenience and oblige yours faithfully." (Lt. General Thomas Jackson, in a letter to his Pastor)

I'm not quite sure how to rate this with stars. On its face, without any analysis, it deserves a minimum of 5 stars — BUT ! ! !. By example: in WWII, fighting against the Axis Powers was a fight for differing forms of administered socialism with differing levels of recognized rights. The evolution of today's occupying statist theocracy infesting this land does not recognize Divinely endowed inalienable rights or liberty at "the laws of nature or of nature's God" (Declaration of Independence). Can that tyrannical and enslaving theocratic body still be considered my country?  OR; does my sovereign representation (country) still silently exist under the occupation.
