The US congress comes to mind as to those who live upon taxes, and can raise their pay anytime they think about it.

Same as it ever was, apparently. I guess once 50% of the people work for the government to keep the other 50% paying their salaries, we will all be officially slaves. Not much further to go ...

Perhaps if the US stop spending over a $trillion on the MIC and invading other countries we could get back to having a nation that took care of it's people and its infrastructure...
