Thomas Szasz Quote

“Men love liberty because it protects them from control and humiliation by others, thus affording them the possibility of dignity; they loathe liberty because it throws them back on their own abilities and resources, thus confronting them with the possibility of insignificance.”

I really like the conclusion drawn on the observation. I originally felt a lil-tweek because everything was couched in a cause and effect instead of a 'that which is'. By example: the man that is love, loves liberty. The man that is substantive enough to be responsible for self (family, etc.) also loves liberty. 'BUT', in the context given, describing those that truly love liberty and those that don't, the statement is very accurate.

"Liberty is the hardest test one can inflict on a people. To know how to be free not given equally to all men and all nations."
