Will Durant Quote

“If our economy of freedom fails to distribute wealth as ably as it has created it, the road to dictatorship will be open to any man who can persuasively promise security to all.”

And so many dummies fell for this when they heard it from FDR and LBJ. The New Deal and Great Society promised the moon and delivered nothing.

What Obama is doing will make pale what both FDR and LBJ did in more ways than simply monetary. Somehow the people not only haven't learned, they've become more ignorant and gullible over time and will soon rue the day if their way goes uncorrected.

Obama is going to "fix" everything that is wrong with this country. I suspect that after he gets done fixing the country, we will all be in a fix. To his credit, the "stimulus" bill has worked well. It has stimulated about two and a half million people out of a job.

All good statements above. There is no distribution of wealth concept or possible job description within an economy of freedom. That is a false premise set forth to create and justify a chaos of crisis. The road to dictatorship, persuasively promising security to all, never lets a good crisis go to waste. An economy of freedom is an individual's orderly and functional arrangement or, organized system in harmony with the laws of nature and nature's God to promote prosperity. An economy of freedom is from within out, not from without in. It is individualistic, not societal (it is the individual's voluntary relationships to the many, not the many's demands on the individual) In a land of the free, moral, and just, no distribution of wealth is perceived, desired, or needed, it is a dictator's concept for controlling the week minded, lazy, and slave at heart.

I can understand the disdain for the phrase 'distribution of wealth' as it usually is used to justify theft. But Durant says "an economy of freedom" as opposed to a 'government' distributing wealth. By trying to get a piece of every single transation of any kind between any 2 entities eventually cripples free and fair trade. An economy of freedom should balance itself through the laws of supply and demand without help from 'governnors.' The 2nd point Durant makes is that when the desperate outnumber the oppulent, the poor are easily swayed by anyone promising them money.

If the state of the economy,is an indicator of dissatisfaction of those contributing, then we have a revolution on our hands!

I favor not breaking the law of man that NO one wants to admit. WE are all born equal...born with the Intelligence to become UN equal. Most people are too lazy to get off their asses, take a giant RISK...put themselves on the line and earn $$$$'s. They would rather let government TAX and TAX more...killing the desire in most people to continue...MYSELF ..I care less for the guy on the corner wanting a handout. I tell them ..I work and I'm 75...go get a job or create one....get off your ass!
