The repubs and the dems are two sides of the same coin.

In 1913 we got the income tax and the Federal Reserve and it's been downhill ever since.

Nothing much to add here, this quote sums it up.

J Carlton, thanks for this great VonMises quote. Ain't it the truth.

The libs may have a problem arguing with this quote since it comes from a former Clinton man.

If anyone should know, it would be Volcker.

One war that is destroying this nation and must be stopped, is this so-called War on Drugs. It fills our jails with non-violent citizens, makes drugs cheaper and easily available to children, increases crime in our streets, makes brutal thugs rich, and costs over 50 billion dollars per year. Check out LEAP.cc on the web to see why we have to stop this madness.

E Archer said it well. Citizens will gladly give up all sorts of rights in time of war and think they are doing the patriotic thing.

Joe, most of our tax dollars go for welfare, foreign aid, a multitude of government bureaus, and Michelle and Baracks pleasure jaunts.

I have a news flash for Terry, Golok,Jurgrenson, and Gregoroff, Bush is not the president. We have a new one, the Kenyan by the name of Obama. We all know that governments lie, this is not big news. Check out almost everything that Nancy, Ralph, and Obama say on a daily basis for proof.

And the kings send the serfs out to do the fighting.

As to the perils of war, would someone please tell me what in the hell we are doing in Libya. And tell Obama as he doesn't seem to have any idea either.

J Carlton said it well. If not a shooting war, there are wars on cancer, poverty, obesity, drugs, you name it, and none of them ever work or ever end.

Or as General McArthur once said, " There is no substitute for Victory". Obama doesn't seem to understand this.

Cal, I agree and I also admired Douglas Mc Arthur. I think it was Truman who referred to Stalin as "Good Ol' Joe". Too bad that McArthur couldn't have fired Truman.

I suspect that FDR was also relieved when Pearl Harbor was bombed as his policies had continued the depression and now he saw a way out. This war also gave us the infamous withholding tax, a "temporary" tax to finance the war which is still with us today. People give up all sorts of freedoms in times of war, sort of like right now with the "Patriot Act".

As usual, J Carlton is right on target, well said.

Anonymous,New york, Yes, God's word would no doubt be true, but the Bible is mans word about their ideas of God. How anyone can believe that the Bible is somehow literaly "God's Word" is beyond me.

With the Muslim Students Associations active, anti semitism is rampant in many of our colleges and universities These people would love to see another holocaust.

Very true, and lots of profit in war for some.

National Socialism, not a bad name for what the Obamacrats are trying to accomplish.

My favorie Washington quote is this one, "Government is not eloquence, not reason, it is force, and like fire it is a dangerous servent and a fearful master".We would do well to remember this quote.

And speaking of the Peace Prize, it became an idiotic joke when Gore and Obama got it.

The history of the world is the story of it's wars.
