Rich you almost had it right. If you had said an "open and free community" you would have been a lot closer. Being free doesn't require any community at all, but I prefer community. A "Free and Liberated Community of Individual Sovereigns "Freely" associating for the benefit of all.

Ergo: The Constitution of the United States of America and the Bill of Rights. Something the Obama administration (and others before) are loathe to acknowledge.

"Group Rights" is an oxymoron. If every single individual does not enjoy "natural rights" then there is no such thing.

Freedom is many things...enjoying the fruits of your own labor for example. But ultimately it means taking responsibility for your own choices...and that's why the Liberals hate it and are jealous of what free people have accomplished.

When people have something left of their pay check after taxes, they are much more likely to be philanthropic than if they are robbed at the source and left with the question of, How do I make it to next payday? Forced philanthropy is what leads to selfishness...out of necessity.

Walter, the Government right to control business has CREATED monopolies. It is not the purview of the government to "control" anything. They are in place to provide a system of justice, one that would by law punish monopolies and price fixing. I'd like to think that TJ being of such noble character had this in mind.

With the Bush created and Obama supported Patriot Act...all of those fine ideals went right out the window...in the name of "security" of course!
