Douglas quote Exactly right, Archer. 1 Reply jim k, austin 10/30/08 re: Lysander Spooner quote Actually, Archer, you have it backwards, we vote on who will plunder us next. 3 Reply jim k, austin 10/30/08 re: William O. Douglas quote Right on, Mike, and we will be very close to a dictatorship if B.H.O. is elected with a majority for Pelosi and Reed. With that crowd in power we can forget about any thoughts of a Constitutional government, not that anyone in DC pays any attention to it now. That nest of vipers, with few exceptions, should be cleaned out at the ballot box on Tuesday. 2 Reply jim k, austin 10/30/08 re: Lysander Spooner quote A near perfect description of government. On Tuesday we will decide if our own country will remain about 80% socialist or go all the way. If Mr "Spread the Wealth Around" is elected we will have our first Marxist president. McCain is no bargain but considering the alternative he looks pretty good. 24Reply jim k, austin 10/29/08 re: Alexander Hamilton quote The Libs love to keep the haves and the have nots fighting with each other. They always want to "tax the rich" and there is always morons who buy into this nonsense. These are the folk voting for B.O. 1 Reply jim k, austin 10/29/08 re: Walter H. Judd quote We could add that decisions should be made by those who make themselves heard and who vote and can THINK. If this were so we would vote most of the politicians in D.C.out of office. I've always been against these get out the vote campaigns as they are usually designed to drag the no nothings to the polls. We seem to think that every Tom, Dick, and Harry should be allowed to vote. This is nuts. I'd start by refusing the vote to any person on welfare. Years ago in Texas we had a poll tax. I believe it was a tax of $1.75 which you had to pay or you could not vote. This is one tax that I would vote for, the only one. Nowadays the Dems will drag people from under a bridge to the polls, to vote democrat , of course, and they still adhere to the old Chicago rallying cry, "Vote Early and Vote Often". 1 Reply jim k, austin 10/29/08 re: U. S. Army Training Manual No. 2000-25 quote Joe, Los Angeles, said it well, thanks. The Jefferson quote he refers to is exactly right. The army manual quote is the best definition of democracy that I've seen. 2 Reply jim k, austin 10/27/08 re: Rosa Luxemburg quote Reston, what "libel and inciting violence" are you talking about. If any Lib had a case to sue either of these two it would have already happened. You sound almost as ridiculous as Waffler but then Liberals can't stand to hear another point of view. 3 Reply jim k, austin 10/27/08 re: Rosa Luxemburg quote Waff is all for freedom of speech as long as it supports the leftwing agenda. His "crowded theater" analogy is beyond stupid. 2 Reply jim k, austin 10/27/08 re: James Bovard quote The market has "crashed" for several reasons. The main one is that the government virtually forced lenders to make mortgage loans to people who could not make the payments. Janet Reno, the horrible, the Attorney General under Clinton, told lenders that if they didn't make those idiotic sub-prime loans they could be "investigated". I would call that a threat. Thank you, Slick Willie. Now Pelosi, Reed and the usual suspects have circled the wagons to put the blame everywhere except where it belongs, on their own doorstep. 4 Reply jim k, austin 10/27/08 re: H. L. Mencken quote H.L. usually got it right. This one was no exception. 2 Reply jim k, austin 10/24/08 re: William Paterson quote Waff, if you have a checking account at a bank, please check out how much interest you are getting on your deposits. Mine is around one half of one percent, almost enough to buy a cup of coffee. Owning a bank is a license to steal. Reply jim k, austin 10/23/08 re: Abraham Lincoln quote I think that Dave, St Louis, got it right. About the same time as the Federal Reserve Act we got Karl Marx' favorite, the 16th ammendment, the income tax. How about that for a double whammy. The country had little debt prior to these horrors and look at us now. Reply jim k, austin 10/23/08 re: Woodrow Wilson quote A good quote from a man who took us into World War One, a war we should not have been in. 3 Reply jim k, austin 10/23/08 re: Thomas A. Edison quote Mr Edison was right and should not have "staid" with only light bulbs and phonographs. 3 Reply jim k, austin 10/21/08 re: Marriner Stoddard Eccles quote Right on Bryan except I would add that it's like praising a burgler for only stealing half your money and not killing you, or maybe praising the Gestapo for it's sucess. Waff is either putting us all on or he's incredibly stupid. 2 Reply jim k, austin 10/21/08 re: Louis McFadden quote Waff, perhaps you can explain why our congress allowed a private banking organization which is never audited to control our money supply ,set interest rates and have money printed at their behest. This is ,or should be, the job of the US congress. As to your last inane statement, we don't use the Fed, it uses us. 1 Reply jim k, austin 10/21/08 re: Kenneth Gerbino quote Yes Waff, life is pretty good for many these days which has nothing to do with the quote. Mr Gerbino is quoting some statistics that shoud scare any intelligent person. When the value of what we now call money depreciates we all lose, especially older people on fixed incomes. Now Waff, if this is too complicated for you, you can probably find a 5th or 6th grader to explain it ,but look for one not from our public school system, maybe one who has been home schooled. 1 Reply jim k, austin 10/20/08 re: Thomas Jefferson quote Waff, if B.O. is elected it won't be because Americans want a Socialist country. It will be because too many airhead numbskulls think he's cute or because he can read a speech very eloquently while saying nothing. The Howard Stern show sent a reporter to Harlem and asked several prople who they would vote for. They all said Obama. When asked how they liked his pick for V.P., Sarah Palen, they said it was a good pick. These lame brains didn't even know who his VP pick was and couldn't begin to define Socialism. If B.O. is elected it will be with votes from no-nothings like these, not because Americans want a Socialist country Reply jim k, austin 10/20/08 re: Thomas Jefferson quote Read "The Essence of Jefferson", by Martin Larson. Reply jim k, austin 10/20/08 re: Thomas Jefferson quote Money doesn't corrupt, the love of money and power corrupts. 1 Reply jim k, austin 10/17/08 re: John Maynard Keynes quote Dick, you are a little confused, libs usually are. Obama, Waters, Dodd, Pelosi, Biden, Franks, and a host of liberal dems fought any oversite of Fannie and Freddie. Their finger prints are all over this mess. Naturally they blame it all on"The Market", "Wall Street', etc , anybody but themselves. These clowns and their ilk caused this mess. 5 Reply jim k, austin 10/17/08 re: Horace Greeley quote Actually, Dick, it really started downhill with the 16th ammendment and was speeded along later with the Roosevelt New Deal. B.O. can now finish the job. Welcome to the Peoples Republic of the U.S.A. 2 Reply jim k, austin 10/17/08 re: John Maynard Keynes quote Socialist claptrap. 1 Reply jim k, austin 10/17/08 re: Hans F. Sennholz quote Now that the government is heavily in the banking business, it will no doubt get worse. We are almost completely a socialist country now and B.O. will finish us off if elected.
