It is too bad that math is too hard for democrats and socialists to understand.

I wish we could figure out how to persuade people of the truth about our tax system. If enough of us pressured congress and the president to replace it with a flat consumption (sales) tax, we could displace the IRS. Maybe I am too naive to think we could get such legislation passed.

we have enough prisons and we want the law to carefully consider imprisonment.

I agree with the first two sentences. Not with the third.

It regularly amazes me that there really are people who think like Reston and Waffler. It is so difficult to believe that anyone could be so ignorant and irrational. I believe that its the desire to control others that is the root of such obstinate irrationality.

thought you would waffler. We all know that you want to remove all freedoms and make every american a ward of the state.

This is not about leaders vs. no leaders in government. This is about the government pursuing more authority so that it can "help people" and "make people better". The truth is that the power and authority to do these things is an attempt to become your master and that such leads us to lose choices.

I dont understand why there are so many people who view socialistic/statist governing as the caring, right way to go, when all of history shows that such controlling governments always become criminal.

"as for socialism, I have come to believe it is the only government that is TRULY Of the people, By the people and FOR the people" -----JOY. There are not words that can express how ignorant it is to think that socialism benefits the people of a nation. Socialism rewards those with government connections. Capitalism rewards those who provide things people want. I can prove that socialism brings people into poverty --- just look at the history of north Korea and the soviet union and compare that to free market societies like the early US and Hong Kong.

we need to pressure congress to limit the power of the IRS. And ultimately, we need to eliminate it. But to get there we need to take a page from the socialists play book by demanding changes and getting whatever we can get, and then turn around and demand more. And over time achieve an America with the unleashed economical potential and freedom of a nation full of free earning citizens.

While I agree that it is a shame that so many votes are not made by reason and facts. I dont think that it is wise to employ competency tests since they give too much power to the people making the tests.

You know wouldn't it be great if all the Wafflers could move to one place and they could form a country called Waffleria. And then we could form a country called libertaria, where the majority of the readers here would live by the principles of individual choice and capitalism. And then we would simply compare the average quality of life between the two after 100 years. (Hell - we all know it wouldn't take that long even!) And then we could put all of Waffler's lies to rest. Of course I think American history has already showed this.
